The Basics of GLD and PLD

I've recently decided to give the game another shot since February (got distracted by another game for a while). Now I had GLD up to about 38 before I turned off my account, but I've completely forgotten what my stat allocation build was going to be, or if I need to adjust it based on wanting to main PLD now. Was looking for a little guidance on what my stat distribution should look like or if there's a "GLD/PLD 101" guide somewhere. I've looking through the first few pages and gathered what I could, but most of the posts are a little more advanced that what I'm looking for at the moment. Any help would be great!

Paladin is pretty unique in it's utility as a Job:
1) Can be made as a turtle tank that just takes a beating + self heals to build Enmity
2) DD Tank generating ENM by Combo's and Damage
3) Secondary Tank, for party buffs and off-heals
4) Secondary Tank + DD with Debuffs and DOT's (Goring Blade, Aero, Stone, Defense Down)

You can build it to your playstyle which is nice.
Therefore, you can set your Bonus Stats to however your playstyle fits.

For example: I like the DD Main Tank. So I put all my points in STR/MND

You don't get enough Bonus points to divide them between a bunch of stats. So concentrate on only 2.
Materia Melding will be your best option later on for really boosting your stats up.

Thanks Xero. Did you just split them 50/50 in your case or focus on more into STR than MND (vice versa)?

if you only focus on two stats, you can only split them 50/50 or rather 23/22.

I'm assuming Turtle Tank is dex + vit for shield block and life, correct? That seems more like my playstyle, but I guess we'll see how it goes.

No dex, PLD never needs dex. If you want to do a turtle tank, do VIT and STR, just like WAR. You could also do VIT and MND, but I think STR would be better ultimately because of the extra damage.

For max enmity, go STR and MND, but then you will need DEF materia on your gear.
