    Level 92 Monk animation feels terrible

    Hello everyone,

    I’ve been playing Monk since Arr and was really looking forward to the new abilities at level 92. However, I have to say, the animation for our new skill is terrible.

    Here's why I think it's disappointing:

    Lack of Fluidity: One of the things that makes playing Monk so enjoyable is the smooth and fluid animations that make you feel like a martial arts master. The new level 92 skill feels stiff and out of sync with the rest of our abilities (especially opo opo).
    Visual Aesthetics: The visual effects are underwhelming. Compared to other classes' new skills, ours looks bland and lacks the "wow" factor.
    Impact: When you use the skill, it doesn’t have that satisfying impact. The sound effects and visual cues don't give the impression that you’re dealing a powerful blow.

    I know animation might not be the top priority for everyone, but for a class that relies so heavily on the feel of its combat, this is a significant letdown. I hope the devs take a look at this and consider making some adjustments to improve the animation.

    Honestly, as a Monk player since ARR, I don’t dislike it. Admittedly I like Rising Raptor and Pouncing Courel much more than the weird Leaping Opo attack, it feels like it has power behind the punches and it feels great to execute.

    Honestly just change Opo to feel more impactful and adjust the SFX to make it sound heavy (honestly all the new attack sound designs kinda suck) and I’m happy.

    I've been playing since ARR and I feel the exact opposite. I love the new animations and I feel like they give the class a much needed aesthetic upgrade. I think it's nice we have attacks that actually represent the forms we use. Also it's fun that raptor strike is basically shoryuken and coeurl is a falcon punch.

    I don’t mind it, but I get what you mean. The way that you kind of just hang in the air makes it feel floaty and longer-lasting than it actually is. The swipes and the kicks also don’t look quite as vicious as three haymakers that you lean into.

    The only one I’m disappointed with is Rising Raptor. The animation itself is nice, but the motion is too similar to Forbidden Chakra. It really should have been a proper Shoryuken motion, like a beautiful fiery Shinryuken.

    Big agree here. I've noticed this across most the job, the new sound effects just feel soft and lacking. Necrotize, Double Check, and Checkmate also all feel really weak from an auditory point of view compared to the skills they replaced.

    I do like the roar they added into pouncing courel, though.

    I like the new animations a lot. Leaping Opo has good impact and sound design (although I will miss the bootshine sound). The animation is quite acrobatic which I like in Monk animations and the slash effect actually makes claw weapons fit the job for once

    Leaping Opo has grown on me a lot actually. I still prefer the character animations of Bootshine, but Opo's particle FX, and sound design are great. It makes me wish they skill could be retooled so it has the animations of Bootshine, but with the juice of Leaping Opo.

    I think I would take to Leaping Opo more if the swipes came out faster or even better, simultaneously. The weird midair bob between swipes makes you look like a marionette. A leaping overhead with both hands into the flip kick would have looked more fluid and far less awkward.

    The roar sound of Pouncing Coeurl is a bit annoying and I'd have preferred Leaping Opo to be more similar to Bootshine but otherwise I'm fine with it as a non-MNK main.

    I don't like the leaping oppo animation at all.
    And I wish the sounds of the attacks of all the new combo actions were a bit more "heavy/impactful", but the animations of the other 2 gcds are alright I guess.
