And they didn’t take positionals because of feedback, brought back Ice paradox and fixed Umbral soul like people wanted.
Kaiten is not the only thing to exist.
Typical response it typical. Never said it played exactly the same, I said it "feels" exactly the same. Come on, just be honest with yourself, it barely changed! LOL ...Changing a couple button presses and not watching a debuff timer on what I'm fighting doesn't make a difference to me, hence "it feels the same." I still get what I wanted, a fast paced dual wielding swordsman. I went from playing Viper since Day 1 of early access to leveling Dragoon and Reaper, and OMG they are so slow! When I switch back to Viper, I realize how much more fun I'm having. Maybe play something else for a while if you haven't already, and go back to Viper. You might come to the same realization. It definitely does not play the same anymore, if you truly believe that I have grounds to think that you have not played Viper correctly.
To quote from r/ffxivdiscussion:
Additionally, minimizing the usage of Dread Fangs was a gameplay element that required a bit of attention. Sure, it was not the most in depth or engaging mechanic, but it was a gameplay mechanic that kept people engaged and interested. Checking whether to use Dreadwinder or Dreadfangs was a decision you had to make, based on how the fight progressed.
It doesn’t feel the same. The rotation is follow follow follow the yellow button road now when previously you could move things around depending on what the boss was doing. Applying noxious to dungeon bosses/trash wasn’t even that hard, you just had to cancel your single target rotation with an aoe en route. It just feels bad and significantly worse especially below level cap, which is a common complaint about new jobs.Typical response it typical. Edit: please note I am not discussing difficulty.
So you are acquainting feel with the order of buttons you push. I am not.It doesn’t feel the same. It may feel similar to you, but it feels completely alien to me, now after I have played pretty much daily since early accessTypical response it typical. Never said it played exactly the same, I said it "feels" exactly the same. Come on, just be honest with yourself, it barely changed! And no, it has not barely changed, it changed noticeably, from having to pay attention to what I am doing to now simply pressing buttons as they light up or become available.
"You" may get what you want, which is a class fantasy. That is fair. What others lament is a lack of fundamentally interesting gameplay that was removed from us, lol.
And yes, I play other classes too. I know what has drawn me towards Viper, the speed and the thing that was now removed. Both made the class appealing to me. You can LOL somewhere else pal.
RIP Viper 28/06/2024 - 30/07/2024. It was a fun month.
im still not sure what to play in this raid tier since there is no job that really hooks me at the moment. viper used to be on the list. but now its gone. one job less to decide for
I don't understand why positionals on the base combo still can be either button and the only way to distinguish it is the color which is awful if you're red green colorblind, yeah i'm not counting or keeping track during the chaos of a fight... Especially if you're supposed to stop the combo in favor of the other ones that do more dmg when they become available... That is just poor design.
At least some good soul made an icon mod that makes the flank icons blue.
At least make it clear on that useless job gauge then...
And vpr just feels boring without the Noxious Gnash debuff, it was the only one to track the other ones were already braindead easy to keep up.
So disappointed in this rework.
lol What did they change besides removing that copy+paste reaper debuff? The positionals and shit are still there, like....?
You people act like any minor change is the end of the world
If you didn't play and understand Viper, please keep your opinions to yourself.
