I chalk it up to cultural differences personally. It's not inherently good or bad; one advantage of having many smaller threads is they can be focused on specific things. For example, instead of having a BLM megathread where you have to dig through it to find conversations you care about you can find threads talking about specific BLM stuff, like ice paradox, thunder procs and so forth.

In that sense I prefer the style of having many smaller threads as it's easier to find posts that are focused on talking about what I specifically care about

the last time they cared about the NA servers is when 1.0 nearly put FFXIV into the dirt 6 feet under. Since then-- with the state of jobs/battle design, and even fanfest--have been nothing but middle fingers and all quiet on the western front.
