Couldn't have said it better myselfAfter they introduced DNC to the phys range mix I'm convinced they just have no clue whatsoever of what to do with that role. They continue to nuke their dps numbers with the excuse of "mobility and utility" which is absolutely fucking laughable with the state the game is in rn where everyone has mobility skills AND utility skills outside of a literal handful of selfish dps that top the charts. Which mind you just makes the spot MCH is in just outright stupid considering they are a selfish dps but are stuck with the phys range curse. Why?
Making jobs and just punishing them for the role that they're in is just ridiculous as a notion and I really wish they'd let up and just drop that kind of mentality already and just let people play on equal grounds. Let the numbers show the skill , not how butchered your skill potencies are and your "role tax" as a dps.

Sure was nice for full metal field to get buffed to...checks notes the same potency as ogi namikiri, which samurai gets at 90. "Like samurai, but worse", was the vibe I got when I saw the potencies for the machinist stuff in the media tour. Still hasn't changed even with that buff.
Filler combo that does less than a tank filler combo, a 2m cooldown that's laughably weak and can't even direct hit. I mean it's nice that we finally have an ability that we can personally do that is our hardest hitting ability, but, when are we going to fix the fundamental problem of just doing less damage than other dps and/or not bringing anything to the group that'd be remotely considered useful? We've already had this same issue with Eden and Pandaemonium, now it's going to be Arcadion too? Are we supposed to just wait for the next expansion?
Just because "every job can clear" doesn't mean it's the best choice, SE. Machinist can clear it, but it doesn't scale with jobs, it scales with gear, and poorly at that compared to bard and dancer, who scale with gear plus the gear the party gets.
Tbh if they made mch anything stronger than the lowest caster and melee, I think ppl would just start complaining that MCH is too strong bc of uptime freedom.....
Atp the devs won't budget on making phys ranged anything more than they are now. I just want MCH to be fun again.
They're living in ARR world where uptime was a problem. There's a multitude of tools classes have now to combat any sort of downtime, plus you can always get better at the game. The only time we'll ever get true downtime is if there's a death floor between the boss and the players, and bosses constantly interrupt casters. If those things don't exist, people will find ways to get uptime and design strats around them. Since MCH is a pure damage dealer with less supportive effect, how about some debuff like with ninja or viper ? Or having more mitigation based support, idk
