It’s more one of their biggest stated reasons for the removal and pruning of DOT’s and rotational debuffs (think like old rage of halone) is cluttering up of the debuff bar with excessive DOT’s; then they proceed to add 2 melees that have it as their personal buff despite literally nobody besides that melee caring that the debuff is applied to the boss

As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.

I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

Horrible changes. Horrible. The job just came out a month ago and they're already gutting parts of the kit. A debuff is too much for this playerbase, really? We're just digging deeper into the homogenization hole by turning the combo starters into another Leaden Fist? Why was the combo finisher buff timer extended? This is such an unnecessary change. Basically everything that came out of today's notes reads as reducing any small amount of nuance the job had. What is even the point of Dreadw- sorry, Vicewinder -- a name change that feels deeply unneeded, having charges now? You're just going to press this button whenever you feel like it with no care in the world for buff/debuff timers because you already won't put it into burst. Christ, you may as well have committed to gutting the positionals too.

I don't understand these changes at all. Viper was perfectly fine and not hard at all to play.

It's a huge bummer to me personally. Gnash management was a pretty fun part of the job and the new addition to the combo starters seems more like a bandaid fix cuz they realized the second combo starter doesn't have a purpose anymore.

I wish they'd have just left the job alone, it was genuinely the most fun job they've created in the game so far so I'm just hoping that they realize that it's a mistake and revert it sooner rather than later.

I think they hit the nail with the original design where it was easy to play for someone who wants to do adequate damage (follow light up buttons), but the ceiling could be pushed by someone who really wants to master it. I feel like this should be the design goal of every job in the game so it's a shame to see them walk back the complexity of the job because it's moving further away from this ideal.

The vast majority of this playerbase doesn't actually want to engage with this game in any meaningful way. Anything at all, even just a few very simple buff and debuff timers, is far too much for them. SE has made it clear that they're more interested in designing a game for these players who don't want to actually play a game than people who actually want to play the game.

    Thanks, JP.

I'm so happy we got a new easiest melee to play.

I'm glad they removed Noxious because debuffs on the enemy that do nothing for the rest of the party but indicate that a reaper or viper was alive at some point are an issue in large scale content because of the buff cap.

Revert them. Dreadfangs was perfectly fine, and a fun small optimization. It's basically impossible to let it fall off unless you're physically incapable of pressing buttons.

Yes, let's remove the one debuff from a class based on snakes.

So ignore it. It was core to how viper felt to play, which was more important than viability in casual content.

RIP Viper 28/06/2024 - 30/07/2024. It was a fun month.

Given the opportunity, developers will polish the fun out of a game.
