PS5 crashes daily while playing ffxiv, WITHOUT warning or error- only since patch 7.0

Hello. I know some have mentioned it a while back but it doesn't seem like Squenix is planning on fixing it - the issue is not listed in the Known Issues section. I didn't see it. Hope I'm wrong and they're working on it. But still:

    What's happening:
While playing Dawntrail, my PS5 turns off without warning or error nr. This first started happening on the day of 7.0 patch release early access.
The console then will not turn back on unless I manually unplug the power cord, wait a second, and plug it back in. Then it will turn on and perform the typical system repair process and warn me how the console wasn't properly turned off and that data files might get damaged this way... This never happened with ANY other game (f.e. FF16, etc)

    How often does it happen:
First week of DT 4-5 times per day, then I took some steps to try and fix it which helped for a couple weeks, now it's back with a vengeance. Yesterday 2 crashes, today three.

    When does it happen:
Completely random, usually while just doing side quests, flying around in zones, and once during a simple cutscene. It hasn't happened while using duty finder yet.
The past 2 days it happened 3 times while doing Fates in DT zones, and twice it crashed when I was just afking in Mist for a few minutes, less than 10 min.

The steps I've taken to try and fix it:
    - deep cleaned the console again, removing fan and all - it was already clean tho from before 7.0
    - disabled 120Hertz in PS5 settings - this seemed to work for a couple weeks, until yesterday
    - enabled dynamic resolution in FFXIV settings
    - console is mounted on a wall, with air conditioning turned ON, and later added a mini fan pointing at the back of the console (didn't help either, the console is not hot to touch, just warm)
    - internet connection is stable and connected via cable

What I'm hoping to gain from this post:
Others sharing their experience with their consoles and most importantly, I'm hoping this issue gets publicly acknowledged by Square Enix, added to the Known Issues, and that we get a promise of a fix, soon tm.

Here are screenshots of my settings, hope it helps identify the issue:

Sorry, this cant be the game. Your console turns OFF and you cant turn it back on unless you plug the power cord? Then the console has a hardware fault. Usually since behaviour i known from the power supply (inside the device/PS), because its a fuse that resets only after power unplug.
Contact Sony or your seller for support / guarantee.

I know a friend with PS5 playing since Early Access DT without any crash. (100+ hours since then)

It doesn't happen with other games tho. And this only started happening on DAY 1 of patch 7.0. Never happened before and it still doesn't happen with other ps5 games, only Dawntrail. And I'm glad your friend hasn't had issues with it, but there have been others who did so it would be quite a coincidence for the console to break for so many, just for 1 game, on the same exact day. https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme..._crashing_ps5/

Also, it doesn't seem to happen if you play on 1080p. Which I don't, but ppl who do will not have this issue

My PS5 has run fine throughout the whole expansion. A fresh install of FF might be a good idea if you haven’t tried that

Crashing Game / App is one thing, shutting down the whole playstation and it dont turn on again is another.
The reddit thread is useless, no diagnostic no further information. other even posted, it helps to clean the PS, so there seems something terribly wrong with the cooling inside.
If it dont happen on 1080p then it might be that the playstation consumes less power.
You can wait ages for Square Enix to fix that, it will not happen, there is not even a note on such a known problem.

    Same

I have about over 3500hrs into FF14 - and it's the first 100 Gen1 ps5's so it's got some miles on it. However, ever since DT it's been running odd. No other games (Just to name a few, FF16, FF7R1, FF7R2, GOW, Steller Blade etc etc ) have the issue. But whenever I play FF14 after the DT update gets extremely hot. A 10year old game should not affect the console this way. I have an external fan on it now constantly and that helps to an extent. Last night tried helping some people prog TOP and it just shut down for no reason after 45min. Mind you before DT I was helping people clear and prog TOP for hours and hours.

dentical issues and there are a couple other threads on Reddit about it with people talking about the same thing. You're not alone.

Good morning and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Forums.

If you are experiencing issues with the PlayStation version of Final Fantasy XIV, please try the following:

    ■ Perform a system update on your PlayStation®5/PlayStation®4
Perform the most recent system update and then try a version update for FINAL FANTASY XIV Online.
PlayStation®5: The update can be performed from the home menu by selecting
[Settings] → [System] → [System Software] → [System Software Update]

    ■ Remove peripheral devices to create a simpler environment for the program to run
Remove any peripheral USB devices (gamepads, cameras, microphones, headsets, etc.) to create a more stable, simple environment for your console to run the game. Also consider inserting the devices to different USB ports or removing and reinserting them.

    ■ Re-install FINAL FANTASY XIV Online
If the installed data has been corrupted, the issue may be resolved by re-installing the game.
If all else fails, try doing a system restore/factory reset on the system as a last resort as follows:
    1. Navigate to the Settings menu (cog icon)
    2. Select System software
    3. Select Reset options
    4. Select Reset your console
    5. Select Reset

If the installed data has been corrupted, the issue may be resolved by re-installing the game.

Additionally, if you are using the PlayStation 5 specific version of the game client, try using the PlayStation 4 original version to see if that may help as an optional solution. We hope this information is helpful. Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums!

And check your thermal paste hasnt run off the CPU, this is a problem with the PS5 especailly if people have the console in its vertical position.

I'm also starting to experience this problem, except it's only been happening since 7.1. My PS5 will randomly and completely shut off while playing XIV. I also chalked it up to overheating at first and cleaned out the console, and everything seemed to be fine after that...until it shut off again a few days later while playing XIV.

From what I've observed, it's *only* XIV that is causing it too. My PS5 doesn't shut off by itself with other games/apps such as Genshin Impact/YouTube/etc, no matter how long I'm on them. So it's hard for me to claim hardware failure.

Right now, I'm launching the console in Safe Mode and doing a system software update from there, and I'm also going to do a fresh install of XIV and see if that helps. I'll also try the 1080p resolution if possible. If XIV is still shutting down my PS5 after all of that, I have no clue.

If you're having to unplug and plug it back in, most issues like that are due to ventilation around the power supply. You'll need to remove the side panels and have a screwdriver handy. If it's a 1st Gen, then it's probably the vents.
