I meant my theory was speculation too lolI'm aware it's speculation on my part, but my point is that Bakool Jaja already has a pretty rough background to, on top of that, being shown as someone who doesn't care enough about his people to know that the Ja tiika leaves are an important part of the mamool ja diet regardless of the existence of xibruq pibil... but also also being so desperate that he will cheat and steal to win the contest for his people.
It's flat out inconsistent, even if he is shown as this sort of simple minded musclehead.
I know I'm cherry picking when singling out how that particular case looks, but as I said, it's a matter that the more I pick at the writing, the worse it gets for me.
And that not even accounting for xibruq pibil being a "come together" dish that only one side can make.
But I read yours as, it’s odd he doesn’t know the importance of the rainbow banana leaves, not as he’s written inconsistently. Now I get what you mean and yeah that inconsistency is pretty glaring because of the things you said.
Edit to add: Just realised if it was written better they could have played it off him writing off the rainbow bananas, like how some bullies are written. Where they say something is stupid but they like the thing or it’s important to them. But he wasn’t written well so you get that inconsistency in characterisation instead.

we create a primal sarlac pit using a marlboro and cast jarjar garfield in. The slow digestion process will be torture just like the dt msq was.

The problem is the MSQ was so bad that it really does drag the rest of new content in the game down with it for me. I just don't feel compelled to log in and play when chances are any roulette I do to level is going to put me Dawntrail stuff, which just reminds me how how much of a bad time I was having going through the MSQ. Then I have to go and turn in my tomestones at Solution 9, a badly designed hub city with a Smile remix playing, once again reminding me how much I disliked that whole part of the story when before I was really looking forward to getting to the cyperpunk zone. It's all just so tainted in my mind now. Doing anything in the new zones just reminds me how awful the journey was.
I ran some treasure maps the other day with some friends and I was excited every time we got to go to an old zone again, because those zones have happy memories attached to them. Then someone would link one of the new lv100 map and we'd be back in Heratage found I would remember how annoyed I was with everything happening in the plot here.

Posts like this make me glad I forget stuff easily and have a trained tolerance for dumb bullshit, because I actually have a fair bit of fun with the stuff-fighting part of the expansion. Hell even the solo duties were pretty cool. The problem is the MSQ was so bad that it really does drag the rest of new content in the game down with it for me. It's just a shame the actual plot development was unrepentantly meh and the second act reeked of insecurity.
Wuk lamat is here to stay if you don't like it then you don't like happiness
