New website detrimental to 2.0's success?

Aside from the poor design of the new website, it makes 2.0 look -EXACTLY- like the current game.

There are no new races, the new pictures seem to be mixed with the old pictures, the lore is essentially the same as it currently is.

The main point here is anyone visiting the website to look at 2.0 will browse around and think "this doesn't look very different", which is the exact opposite of the reaction needed to make this game a success.

As much as I hate to say it, SE should really take the site down and just have a video there until they have new content that makes the new game look fresh. Right now it just looks like a really low-budget expansion. And to anyone that doesn't frequent these forums, it would be a good sign to stay away from the game.

People are going to bitch an moan every time SE does something, have been since Alpha. You might be too stupid to understand this, but it was announced that the information will begin coming in August at some point. Wtf do you think they are going to put on the web site in the meantime, of course it looks like the current game.

The site looks fine, just wait until the end of August and you have every right to bitch by then.

yoshi-p already said they'd be using some of the old material to advertise and you know they're going to add more so..

There's plenty of new things on that Website that is new:

- Ul'dah shape its in

- Long read about the Garland, including the First Garland ( since the Empire will still be the main threat in 2.0 its new info)

- Mor Dhona has the Snowy Area Screenshot ( which is my Favorite)


- Chocobos/Airships because a lot of people still see that game as it was at Launch for some odd reason.. and having them on the website will ensure they know about them

- Moogles don't really have much of Purpose in this game other than the Primal. they give you a brief introduction on them and hint about a new role they will have in the new FFXIV

-They tell us the "current problems" of Eorzea which is the threat from Dalamud, and they Show New Screens of Magitak Armor and 2 new Screens.

There's plenty of New Information ( especially for the Newcomers) to understand whats going on and what to expect kinda out of A Realm Reborn.

Edit: Also Mid-August there will be bucket loads of information on that site then.

Anybody with half a brain would see how unfinished the site is, then make a decision whether or not to check back later... and probably will come back. Not keep them away. Some of you are way too worried.

It's targeted at new players who wouldn't know the difference anyway. The site's not the best I've ever seen but it works fine for what it does, plus it'll be updated "soon".

Site looks wonderful, and just about everything on it looks good (except for the limsa and gridania screenshots). Compared to the previous finalfantasyxiv.com (not the previous teaser site, but the one before), it's put together really well and more stuff will be added to it as time goes on.
