Glamour should no longer be Role locked

I've been glamming a lot in this game and time again i've come across a piece that would fit my theme perfectly BUT it is restricted to a different job type, different role.

I understand that so far the lock out has been mostly there to keep job look integrity up, make sure tanks look like tanks and casters like casters. This does not apply anymore though in my opinion, has not for a while. At the latest since the PvP series was added there has been heavy armour available for all jobs and even more with light looking stuff for everyone. I think this restriction is by now obsolete and should be lifted, let everyone use every piece of glam for every job.
The one thing I think is still fair to restrict is job specific artefact gear, but beyond that the restriction seems unnecessary and only makes many glams suboptimal.

I'm usually one to advocate for class fantasy being upheld when it comes to customization/glamour/transmog, but considering anyone can walk into The Final Day wearing anything between a speedo and a solid steel wall, it doesn't matter. Just let people wear whatever.

I'd agree, yes... but. Artifact Armour (AF) should be Job locked because.. that's it's whole purpose - it's that Job's uniform/identity so to speak, with appearence based on the original design/appearence of that Job in previous FF games - in a game where you generally wear generic gear it's the one time you can actually have your character look like that actual Job from past FF games, and thus it would lose that identity if tanks could freely wear WHM AF for instance.

But everything else I don't see a problem with unlocking.

Only artifact armor for jobs should be locked (not for DOH/DOL though)

Considering mages can easily waltz into any content wearing full plate armor (see the last 3 PVP season armor sets, which are level 1 glams, and the Laws Order sets from Bozja), I don't see Yoshi-P's argument of "We don't want to enable that because it would be weird for a Black Mage to enter a dungeon in full plate armor" working anymore. At this point, just let us mix and match our outfits to create new, awesome glams, Square Enix.

Also, there is another thread asking about the same thing by the way, just much longer already.

I always make sure make sure to vent my frustration in the other thread whenever I have to shoot down a glamor idea due to restrictions. I really hope they can remove role restrictions for glamor.

I suspect the devs agree with you, but they can't implement cross-job glam because they have no clue how to specifically exclude AF armor due to spaghetti code

I don't know how convoluted the code actually is behind the scenes but there's a couple of solutions I could feasibly think of.

Simply making anything in "unsync territory" (i.e. stuff from yesteryears expansions, save for AF gear and the Ultimates should they ever provide something other than weapons) unrestricted could be a solution. It's not pretty but it could work, by that point none of the items come from loot-locked sources, can be farmed with a lot less effort and aren't exactly required for progression with the MSQ providing gear coffers and capstone levels having tomestone of poetics gear. The worst that could happen is something like leveling Striking classes opting to use Maiming gear until they hit current content and that's a tradeoff I'm willing to take if it means more glamour options across the board.

I could also see a new Glamoursmith NPC that can turn any (again, save AF) gear item into a statless, unrestricted level 1 copy for the express use of glamouring - or baking that functionality into the glamour dresser - but that would be more work than simply changing class restrictions on old items.

Alternatively, they could do a lot more unrestricted "Replica" gear of old sets and give crafters more "evergreen" recipes in the process.

One of these changes restrictions on old existing items, the others introduce new items so they can pick their poison.
