There is one thing that is missing from the Viper Gauge which i believe is important, and that is the next positional button you are going to press, not the "which left or right to press", but where to stand flank or rear.
This is the default gauge:
Now, this is the gauge after hitting Steel Fangs or Dread Fangs:
After hitting the second attack of any side:
By probably now you already see what i might mean, are you able to see if your third attack is going to be flank or rear based on only the gauge?
No, you cannot.
In this case, your only option is to look at your hotbar or your buff. These are the only indicators for when you know what you are going to move at:
Red buff tells you "this is how your next button color is going to look like" basically
Same with green buff.
And it would be quite nice to see this in the gauge too, so you do not have to look at your hotbar.
Since looking at your hotbar would be extra time to move your eyes and think and you would get hit by an aoe on the floor.
What my eyes first would think to do first in reality is:
> Looking at gauge, to see which side of my keybind to press
> I forget what positional is next
> Have to divert the eyes away from the gauge that i was already looking at
> Eyes stuck on the hotbar that is miles away from the character
> Dies from unexpected aoe attack (probably)
What i might believe that i think this might have been an oversight by the devs, they already have the tool to do this in the current existing gauge, but they didn't add it.
One way I think would solve this without actually editing the gauge graphics or add any more lines, would be to use the dividing swords as an indicator for which is flank and which is rear.
Example: Left is flank, and right is rear. I will be using the simple gauge for a better understanding.
