In my case it's because I don't like slowing down a group of players nor the feeling I'm being carried. So I'll run dungeons with NPCs first to learn the mechanics so I can pull my weight when I do queue with players.

Same. I don't want to slow anyone down and I can take time to look around at the instance.
Dispel yourselves of that mentality, you're not slowing anyone down. If anyone wants consistent party completion times they should queue with friends or through party finder. The idea of duty finder is that no one agreed to play a cerain way; everyone accepts the reality of rng through duty finder.
