I hate Eos

Not because she's annoying or bad or anything, she's a perfectly serviceable co-healer when I actually remember to call her back to my side after a boss fight.

But, I feel that the existence of Eos is one of the biggest pain points that has led SCH down its current doomed path.

SCH has a bit of an identity crisis, once being mainly known as the "knowledgeable military strategist" healer. Whoever has their hands on it now is trying to turn it into the "some Au Ra DRK's healer girlfriend" healer, but hasn't yet been given the go-ahead to gut it's legacy abilities in favor of WHM-but-shields.

If the pet from the start was, say, some sort of flying book familiar, I highly doubt we'd be in this predicament. But the narrative was lost, and now we're losing the main appeal that SCH had in the first place.

Honestly, if I could /egiglamour the Seraph into a Giga-Carbuncle, I would. Eos, Selene, Seraph, etc. were endearing in the beginning, but now the faerie stuff has outstayed its welcome. Let me be a Nymian military strategist. If I wanted to sprout wings and be a shiny special angel boy... well, I'd be playing World of Warcraft.

It would be one thing if it was a fairy themed transformation, but it's an angel themed one.

"Hey, what do add to the military strategist themed healer who's got a fairy companion?"
"Turn them into an angel?"
"Brilliant!"


As for gear, I think it's kind of applicable to most Jobs that the generic gear is often not aesthetically very fitting for them...

But overall, healers are the single most neglected piece of content in the entire game. If things keep going the way they are, they might as well officially be counted amongst the abandoned content like chocobo companions and squadrons.

If the transformation had been fairy themed rather than angel it would have been less bad.

Ofc i'd have prefered no transformation at all and rather some fairy or tactician themed vfx around the SCH.

Because otherwise I feel the thematic split is mostly intact imo. Fairy skills have fae esque vfx. Other skills have mostly arcanist/tactician themed vfx. With the only Outlier i can think of rn being expedient iirc.

I love Eos and Selene, they uses to contrast so well against SCH's military look. Made them look like a DPS who is taking up the healer role with the help of a fairy companion, I don't blame her I blame the terrible design team for ruining SCH's job design both visually and through gameplay.

I wish commanding the fairy had any actual strategy involved so it'd fit the tactician theming. It sounds like it used to be that in the past with them actually being a separate unit to order and sustain.

Counter point: I love Eos... sorry I meant Selene, I love our fairies.

Having a flying book familiar when you are already holding a book as weapon sounds boring to me on a personal level. Our fairies have been existing in the Scholar job lore deeply since ARR, I don't see any problem with having a fairy while being a military tactician in my opinion.

Eos would be fantastic if she kept serving her initial role : an aide to the scholar. But none of that with DT. What a gigantic missed opportunity that they never built on commanding her more like with SMN's demis, especially for dps.

They may be one of the thing holding back SCH ; but not so much as the whole deleted kit that players want back since ShB/SB ; I'd rather have the AF part changed for something more interesting.

Just an idea but it might be interesting if your fairy heals more when you have more aetherflow stacks so that it makes you think more about when to use your AF abilities.

Personally Summon Seraph is fine as it is your pet transforming but Seraphism is crossing the line by transforming the Scholar themselves, if anything were put onto the Scholar body, I would rather have something looks like Full Metal Field than a low quality WHM cosplay robe with chicken wings.
