Because every city being the same is boring and the game doesn't need to revolve around maximum player convenience. Nobody's day is ruined because it took an extra five to ten seconds to get where they need to be.As a fellow crafter/gatherer, I agree that the placement of the main crystal is inconvenient. Old Sharlayan and Radz were both right next to the main points of interest (market board and collectible/raid turn in), so why did they undo this decision this expansion? The MB in Tuli is also inconvenient.
