    ARR - 100 Inventory Limitation

I'm having a difficult time seeing how the reduction in character inventory slots to 100 is going to be livable. Just eyeballing my current inventory, and backing out ammo, excess shadowbind items, lures, etc., and allowing for the fact that equipped gear doesn't count toward that limit, I might be able to get down to 125-130 slots. I don't even have the individual class crafting heads, and I don't have craft gear switch from craftsmanship to control. I do currently carry 10 food/meds items, and 4 hamlet-specific items (weathered tools, and gather body).

It's going to be very bothersome/annoying if we have to store class/job gear on our retainers and be required to visit and swap gear everytime we want to change jobs. Further I can see potential conflicts and restriction to farming/harvesting/etc.

Bottom line, I simply don't see how this going to prove viable. Am I missing something here?

The current 200 limit was ALWAYS temporary. This was stated multiple times by devs.

We use to survive in XI with half that amount of slots with gear taking up space. People will adapt... they just need to stop hording stuff.

Instead on XI you'd fill your entire inventory with gear for one job. Oh the life of a Thief ~

I don't think we can compare the two games that easily. XIV allows you to switch job on the fly. Reducing your inventory makes this feature obsolete.
All I can picture is that we'll have to plan ahead for what we need to change to and prepare for it or items in your gear sets for each of your jobs don't take up inventory space regardless of if you're wearing them or not.

    Who knows!

I do understand this argument. I really don't need it all. I probably only ever hit Bard macros to cast a song and swap back these days.

What I don't understand is why inventory space is being shuffled about in such a manner.
That's exactly what this is, inventory is being reshuffled so that there is more on my retainer and less on me. Why? Who knows! We;re still holding the same it's just been moved about slightly.

I can keep my gear on my retainer and come back to change gear whenever I nee- wait a second.
... Come back to retainer to change gear
... Come back to Moogle to change job

    This all sounds very familiar.

On top of that, doesn't having to swap your gear around just cause pointless busy-work?
Remember drawing spells on FFVIII so you could not-suck? That's what this is! Pointless busy-work!
I'm drawing gear from my retainer! Oh my!

Two things. One, everyone always wants to say "ffxiv is not ffxi, a remake would be stupid... it's a different game... etc etc..."

Two, the more logical point, is that in FFXI to change your job you had to return to your mog house. Where your gear was stored. So it made sense. In FFXIV, changing weapons is supposed to streamline the job system above that old school style running back to town to change everything.

So no I don't think that relates at all. However.....

So long as SE allows for a decent amount of gear sets, and some way to swap simple things (like rings) without a whole new gear set, than the inventory should be a little easier to manage. Still, with how prominante gathering/crafting is in 14 over 11, 100 will make things more cramped.

And I don't see why anyone would argue/defend any position that could not possibly be making the game easier/fairer on you at all.

Another after thought I'm having here would be the ability to call retainers in the field. That would be a more convoluted method, but still work if were insistent on this smaller inventory.

Indeed, going back to your house or talking to a nomad moogle to change would probably be the better system in terms of inventory management so while both games are different, with all the storage options and ability to separate everything I need for x job and keep my inv space as low as possible was a lot better.

It is also true the only people with issues currently are hoarders, since there's a good chance you're not playing every 50 class/job fully and only 1-3 of them at your top performance if that.

I freakin wish my inventory would stop getting junked up with vendor trash. The current system is so slow it takes me like 30 minutes every 10 levels or so to empty the crap out of my inventory.
