    Also if Flare Star has to be a punishment to make us cast six Fire IVs in a row, then Astral Soul should probably just be a stacking buff that transforms Despair into Flare Star at six stacks.

    At cap, Despair currently feels meaningless as an Astral finisher.

    frankly i would rather eat the 60 potency loss by using Despair over Flare Star because it is so unwieldly due to it being entirely segregated from the previously established rotation.
