[Feature suggestion] Player-centered light source toggle

Oh I don't mean light on my character, I mean light emitted from the player character to serve as a torch to look at the surroundings. The current character lighting is just to make your own character (and I guess mobs and npcs), and absolutely nothing else, brighter.

I want to have a minimally immersive tool to generate even if a small amount of light to be able to see in the dark. The environment is really pretty and sometimes I simply enjoy walking around and exploring.
