[Suggestion] FFXIV Alt-Friendliness

Saw the link to this thread in your signature from a Certain Other Thread and I am 100% on board with this. Part of the reason I'm kind of burning out on FFXIV is because I feel "trapped" to one character. I can't flex or play around with other character concepts without sinking more money and time into them just so they have the same robust array of emotes and glamour that my main has. Combined with how rigid the leveling process is (having to start all the way back in ARR and unable to even travel to the newer zones without first going through the multiple-days-long storyline), it really discourages experimentation with style and concepts, for those of us inclined to RP.

Big support for this idea.

Agreed. And if a reward doesn't fit on my 'main', the one I've done all the content on, then I simply don't bother to go for it at all. I just have no incentive to play the game, and the idea that I'd be interested to use every or even most rewards from 10+ years of rewards on one character is silly.

Not bashing those who do just use one character, of course, but I myself play differently and just don't feel any desire to do content on the character I feel 'trapped' on. And no, fantasia and slinging money for boosts isn't a solution.

I'm not going to spend it, I'm simply not going to do it. If we want suggestions on how to get people to join/play the game more - this is definitely mine.

Yeah I by no means want it to affect housing. People can easily get housing on alts as-is (not that hard to grind up) and the limitations in place now are good. I don't think making the game more alt-friendly in the way I suggested would worsen the issue.

Imo they really should add more to personal apartments and FC rooms. It's nothing short of ridiculous that this new interior update ONLY applied to houses (as ridiculous as 'oh we added minimalist when we implied we were going to give no-column options for every style too). I'm really worried the item addition + changes in size for the interior will only apply to houses, which would really be so nonsense.

I also thought we'd have a 'cabin' on our island sanctuaries for indoor items we could decorate. Well, that failed, even though it literally would have been instances housing... sigh.

And, for goodness sakes, just more housing districts in general :/

One thing I suggested in another thread that was more housing related, was that I’d like to see personal homes have some of the same functionality as FC housing. (I could take or leave the workshop; honestly I’d rather that be moved to Grand Companies in general.)

But what I would really like is this: all characters on same world are automatically added to each other’s friend lists and automatically made tenants on your personal homes, separate from any tenants that are actually other players. Personal homes now allow for the creation of extra rooms, and you can have at least as many rooms as you do characters and/or tenants (only because I’m sure they’d want to limit it somehow lol), and if I’m dreaming, maybe even the ability to create multiple rooms. (Since the UI exists, maybe personals can only add one “wing” of extra rooms for a limit of 30, while FCs continue to have the maximum number of wings/rooms.) And lastly, a storage chest for personal homes just like the FC chest, which allows for gil and tradeable items to be transferred between characters.

If you own a House then you would be able to use it on alt on same server, that you got alts on.

Yeah in the realm of alt-friendliness with housing - these suggestions are excellent, gods I wish. Also, I'd love if we could share apartments/fc rooms. Those QoL changes would be so nice. If only ;-;

I personally don't really mind releveling jobs or redoing MSQ, but I'd love for my alts to have access to the house I have on my main and be able to move things between my characters without bugging a friend to help me out.

sharing msq progression would be so nice - unfortunately, they would be losing money on story skips and thus they'd never do it.
