if they cant make this work than at least make everything and i mean EVERY SINGLE THING from the mogstation account wide. its ABSOLUTELY ABSURD that you would have to buy things multiple times for your alts.
I would prefer all but the consumables (eg dye) to be account wide. There is no reason for the mounts, minions or cash-shop costumes to be bound to a single player other than to insult the intelligence of the player and basically frustrate them into only playing one character period. On the flip side of this, alter housing so that players can not acquire more than one house. Period. If you want a FC house, someone has to make the sacrifice to have it bound to their account. No alts get to bid on a house on the same world or any other world in any data center. All alts on the same world get assigned to the same house by default. Alts on other worlds can't bid on a personal house, only contribute to a FC house someone else effectively owns.

But I'm not even that concerned about players creating 8 alts per world just to make a FC of their own, but I am concerned that players may be intentionally doing an "FC of Alts" just to side-step the limitations meant to keep RMT in check. But I digress, if Square enix doesn't see this is as a problem then it's probably never going to change.

What probably should happen, and I mean this in the nicest way possible is that "gear bound to player" should instead be "gear bound to account" so that players who DO in fact buy an outfit off the mog station and later decide to give it to their alt, can.

If I remember correctly what they said way back when, it was another example of their spaghetti code system. The database that they used for tracking and sending out the mails on each new alt was *not* scale-able, like at all. So rather than redo the system to something new that functioned properly, they actively tried to make as few items account wide as possible, so it wouldn't overflow.

To be clear, the only things I remember distinctly about alts in WoW are the following:

    1. The only 'shared gear' was Heirloom gear. This included 'shared gear' via transmog. If I wanted to wear something on another character, I had to go fetch it.
    2. Having leveled 28 jobs (when Alliance/Horde are concerned, back when job list had 14 jobs), I still had to level each and every alt. No shortcuts, per se.
    3. There were no 'shared mounts' either. Purchase one, or get rewarded, and that character had the mount.
    4. Bank space was not shared either.

What I remember about alts in Blade & Soul (and other F2P MMORPGS):

    1. Crafters and banks had a few limited shared slots.
    2. Paid Glamours (requiring actual bought-with-money 'crystals') were sometimes shareable, more so in Blade & Soul, less so in other MMORPGS
    3. Advancement for alts was not easier
    4. One picked up mounts the old-fashioned way - purchase them in-game with in-game currency, mostly.

Other games were less 'alt friendly' and more 'alt required if you wanted to play another class'.

    Your mileage may vary.

Your statement about WoW would be totally wrong now (I'm assuming you quit prior to the changes, which is alright, I'm just correcting so we're all up to speed and there's no misinfo!) - it would be true prior to Mists of Pandaria, but now and for a while, all transmog (glams in FFXIV terms), mounts, and pets are shared. It's an extremely alt-friendly game in terms of collections.

As for advantages, I'd not want any advantage more than we have now for alts, just collections like glams, mounts, emotes, pets, and hairstyles.

If some of that has to be limited, so be it, but something is better than nothing. Island Sanctuary stuff, for example, boggles my mind that it's totally character-locked and we can't give it to alts. Or sell it. I guess not selling it makes that stuff more 'rare', but this is Islands we're talking about...

With respect, I think someone who is clearly not playing WoW shouldn't be typing out utterly inaccurate information about the game.

    Thanks.

With all respect, I played WoW for ten years, starting in Burning Crusade. None of the things I mentioned were inaccurate over that time period. Snark away, but you clearly didn't play WoW back in those days.

    Thanks.

I started WoW in Burning Crusade. WoW functioning differently at a different time period is not mutually exclusive with me playing WoW in the past. That is bizarre logic and not your get out argument. Thanks for proving me right and stating you played WoW in the past, though, so I'll reiterate to not pass on inaccurate information. Leave it to us who actually still play WoW.

You know, if you had simply said "I still play WoW and it's changing" that would have been fine. You didn't. My reminisces are not "inaccurate". They may be out of date, but you didn't say anything like that in your initial post, did you?

All of that neat stuff announced at Blizzcon 2023 (https://blizzardwatch.com/2023/11/04...ts-war-within/) won't be available until the next expansion release, which is about a month away. It hasn't been a part of the game for the last 20 years. It's not a feature yet.

Now you could have said that the information I gave about what I "remembered" of WoW would no longer be accurate come the release of The War Within expansion [22 August 2024], but you didn't do that, did you?
