That was implemented a while ago...- Ability to automatically apply character settings, HUD layouts, gearsets, etc. to alts from a "parent" character, or even better, simply allow us to choose the parent character when applying a HUD. You can already do this by fishing the files from your Documents folder and manually overwriting them, but it's confusing since nothing is labelled in an easy way to tell who is who (unless you go out of your way to label them yourself), and often times your portraits are lost in the process if you don't know exactly which file overwrites what. a subcommand menu in the character selection list would be so lovely. A way to automate this so I don't have to mess with it every time and all my characters always have the exact same HUD and character settings would be even more lovely.

I really am dead set on the MSQ skip in the very least being account bound if your main has gone through MSQ. The major bar from me even touching the game or bothering to grind is the story-locked stuff. Heck, even keeping that but not locking everything behind MSQ for alts would be a pretty big solution (for example, level being the determinant to do content instead of MSQ completion.)
I know people are citing the loss of revenue for SE if they did make those books account bound, but honestly at this point I have no motivation to play the game and am just resubbing every other 45 days to keep my houses (or whatever number maximizes the time I'm not subbed but can still keep them.) I'm not going to buy their nonsense $25 story skip for every single alt I make, and am not going to bother dragging those alts through current MSQ, so have no drive to bother doing content in the game for a character I have no interest in. 'Switching mains' is too much investment for all the locks for content I already did on a main.
There is so much content that is great, but that does NOT fit for my main. I would, again, do more if it was accessible to my alts, and I have 0 desire to repeat MSQ on those characters to unlock a bit of content that fits for them. There's some rewards that would fit on some OCs, and not others. So, I just all together don't even bother at all.
My playtime is way down, as is the frequency I subscribed, they'd be making more money off of me if they did these things rather than just assuming I'll buy that skip. I won't. I just won't bother playing anymore.
I dunno if my experience is the same as others, but yeah, removing the story lock or applying the skip account bound (and updated per expansion) would actually get me to consistently stay subbed and do content depending on what fits for who.
(and - who knows, I may just be a rare player who does that instead of caving to buy the stupid book. There may be no one else that does what I do, but I am sharing this in case it could make a difference and others feel the same.)

That would have to be optional. I like slowly playing MSQ on alts and on different jobs depending on XP. Not the same as NG + but I fully agree on keeping everything locked behind MSQ: no reason to lock gear behind it and they could just make raids and trials unlockable upon reaching level with an npc and still let you play the story after (put a spoiler warning if need be)I really am dead set on the MSQ skip in the very least being account bound if your main has gone through MSQ. Was it? From my understanding, you can only make a backup of your character's HUD, then load said backup on the same character. Did they change it so you can also use that same backup on other characters?
Can you tell me where to find the setting I was describing before?

Just right click on character on the loading screen and chose import from x char (might need to save first on another char by right clicking too, don't remember). It imports sets and portraits too unless you chose not to. It's as simple as that. Was it? I see, glad to see it was implemented! I remember it only being able to upload from the same character, so it was not very useful at first unless you were moving devices...
Thanks!
Since glam unlock will be implemented soon the next feature I would kill for is a warband like system for XIV
Please let me have an accountwide glam dresser I can use on my alts
Please let me jump into content/MSQ I've unlocked on my main
Please let me trade items between my characters
XIV is alt unfriendly to a ridiculous degree
MSQ skip is in bestsellers constantly. SE will rather shutdown game completely than let you have what normally costs $25 (followed by another $25 because it's not like you will level a job from level 1 after skipping MSQ) for free.I really am dead set on the MSQ skip in the very least being account bound if your main has gone through MSQ. That being said, if MSQ skip IS constantly in best sellers, maybe it's a hint that there's something wrong with msq? Omegakek.
There are people who don't care about the story, yes.
But don't underestimate the number of wealthy people playing this game too and buying story skips for their alts like it's bread and butter. As long as those customers exist, there is no way we will get MSQ skip for free.

Oh yes for sure, it should be optional, in fact it'd be nice to select specific skips. Say I want to skip ARR, do HW, but then skip Stormblood, do Shb, then Endwalker, but skip DT, etc. Just any combo, that'd be nice. We can't even do that with the shop right now as is, it's just you skip 'up to [expansion]' and not like... having a choice. It's pointless to for example to skip one, do one, then skip again, that's just a redundant purchase (at the current moment in time with the system, I mean). That would have to be optional. But yeah, all that's to say - agreed, this should 100% totally be optional! Honestly, it'd even be nice to skip individual chunks of story alone, like WoW does (they have a 'I've seen this before' if you've done it on a main).
Yeah, I won't deny that, which really sucks. It's a sad reality and I figured sharing my view on it and how I look at it would help, but yeah.... some just buy skips anyway. I really don't feel like doing all story content on an alt just because it locks every bit of content behind the story.MSQ skip is in bestsellers constantly. I think requiring the story is important, yes, for a main, but locking every single thing behind it for every alt following is so frustrating >< It's a huge waste of time even if I spam click through that and the cinematic when I could be doing content I want to be on that character, and my time is limited. So I end up just not bothering to do the content anyway.
But, again, yeah, everyone saying they're deadset on it because money is right. I'm just hoping (or coping, perhaps), that subs are down enough and not enough people are bothering to drop money on that to justify not adding the QoL we're discussing. A woman can dream :P
Also yay, I'm glad someone was helped in this thread ^^ yeah the copy-paste UI system now implemented is sweet.

For the love of gods, this game should be more alt-friendly. At least drop the story requirements if you've completed it on one character & share shop purchases with the entire account, bare minimum. Support alt friendliness: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/506856-Suggestion-FFXIV-Alt-Friendliness
