No. Leave normal content alone, if you want harder content, do Savage.

So a DPS check I don't think so, but it probably could use with a few mechs. Like the tanks should be switching between them, if the normals are a way to prepare you for extremes and savages, we could introduce some job specific mechs that train you on the basics.
In my opinion, there is no need of a "boss enrage" in normal mode.
However, even in normal mode, healers aren't supposed to be able to raise over, and over, and over, and over...
Right now (but it's not news), the almost infinite ressources of healers and tanks are absurd.
Of course, by essence, DPS players are supposed to fight against a "time's up", but this countdown doesn't have to always be in the boss pattern, like FFXIV does.
The countdown is also supposed to be their teammates' ressources (healers' MP if you prefer).
The balance of FFXIV battle system is severly out of order for a very long time now.
The trinity tank-heal-dps is completely broken...

As a DPS player that loves to push myself, I'd love a DPS check to be in all content. However, history shows that when normal and msq content is made more challenging, a lot of people will quit. Financially, that wouldn't be good for the game's growth. It would start to die out. I remember when people would get the Pharos Sirius dungeon back in the day, and leave the instance immediately because they don't want to deal with the difficulty level. At least we still have them in Extremes, Savage, and Ultimate,
There actually used to be enrages on normal raids. I remember trying to solo Deltascape 1 and shockingly met an enrage at, I think it was 14 minutes, about the same as the Alexander raids.
When I tried to solo E12 there was no enrage at all. I just kept going for over 20 minutes until I killed it.
But I mean 14 minutes is a joke anyway. Even the worst party is unlikely to take that long in any normal raid.
Unlikely, yes, but all the same, I've had the dubious pleasure of healing through a 14 minute, wipe-free run of P7N — a run which was recently eclipsed by the 18 minute, wipe-free run of Dawntrail's final trial that I healed through.
There's dragging the party kicking and screaming through hells and high water, and then there's… those runs.
It really depends on the extent of the DPS check, really -- and how permissible the DPS check will actually be. If it isn't permissible then you're changing the scope of the content.
DPS check? Maybe a few here and there.
Enrage? Leave it in extremes and savages. It doesn't belong in normals. You already have some saying that this expansion is too hard.
HW and SB Normal Raids have Enrage Timers... But they're VERY generous and you won't reach them unless your group completely fucks up.
