    The new mechanic indicator text is more distracting than helpful

    I hope it's not just me but the new text in the middle of the screen that's supposed to be helpful in telling me about a mechanic is more distracting than helpful to me.
    Every time it happens it pulls my attention towards the text itself instead of the mechanic I am supposed to dodge.

    I remember one time being tank in a dungeon and fighting a mini-boss. There was a mechanic that was not even new or anything coming from within the boss itself. As soon as the mechanic started the text also appeared with that sound effect. So I automatically looked at the text to read it which takes a second and got hit by the mechanic since I stood right in front of the boss. Without the text I would have probably dodged it.

    I wish there was a way to at least turn it off. I don't need that text, the mechanics are obvious enough. Show, don't tell. Don't make me read about a mechanic, the indicators about what is about to happen are obvious enough. And if the mechanic is new, I just get hit, understand what I did wrong and learn. But the text with that sound every time the mechanic happens for the first time at every boss is rather annoying.

    Same... The more clutter they shove into the center of the screen the harder it is to see what's actually going on.

    I actually agree with this. It would be a different story entirely if we could move it, adjust the size, turn it off or otherwise modify it in HUD settings, but as it stands it's more distracting than helpful. Especially because underneath it there's a very thin, difficult to see 'timeline' that can easily be mistaken for when the mechanic is actually going to happen and in reality is just the time before the popup disappears. It's a good concept, it's just horribly implemented.

    I love it..I need an "idiot alert" to suit my playstyle, but optiins are the spice of life, and if you want to turn it off, you should be able to

    Thats funny because you can not rely on it, when you do valigarmanda EX, on the frist time it shows the text, but the second time it doesnt anymore.

    Middle of the screen warning text has always been around (think the Chimera in Cutter's Cry, which had eye color notices), but I do kinda wish there was an option to like, change the new style back to the old more subdued style.

    If I remember right it only does it for the first couple after that its only in the text channel?

    Not quite, using Valigarmanda EX as an example, for the donut/cone/out tell, it only shows up the first time it's done in the fight, and then doesn't even show up in the text channel afterwards. But that's not a universal thing, because both volcanic eruptions + all three avalanches get the DBM-alert text onscreen(+in chat) each time they show up.

    But even if that was the case, a lot of these mechs they use the text for only show up once or twice in a fight anyway, so it'd still be happening like half the time. Maybe if they turned them off if you'd already cleared a fight or something, it'd be a bit better/less intrusive, but then I could see people complaining about fights getting harder after they'd cleared it once (which I would be okay with, tbh).

    I was replying to your example of cutters cry i'm not sure why you pulled up a different example. But either way checking videos I was wrong anyway.

    Oh whoops, for whatever reason I assumed you were talking about the new flashy version of the text and responding to the second half of what you quoted there (my suggestion of a more subdued option for the new text), essentially as a way of saying "the new text doesn't really need a more subdued style option, because after you see it the first time it just hides itself anyway (except the chat box)". But I get you now.
