I had a quick synth fail on one of my alts yesterday. I interrupted the synthesis and checked my gear. Turns out durability had dropped to 0 on 4 of my accessories (all pentamelded) because I hadn't been paying attention like I normally do. Repaired everything and no more failures.
Recommended Craftsmanship for quick synthesis has been displayed on recipes in the past but is currently hidden. That may be what is happening here as opposed to level or ilvl playing a role. I might play around a bit on my alt since I'm still trying to level most of her DoH jobs and see if I can come up with some numbers for the 91-98 intermediate crafts.
EDIT: Initial results experimenting with CRP in batches of 50 attempts (made roughly 300 attempts of Ginseng to narrow down breakpoint then 150+ of each of the rest to confirm):
Ginseng Lumber (level 91) and Ceiba Lumber (level 92) both appear to require about 3700 Craftsmanship to avoid failure. At 3696, I was getting failures. At 3704, I had no failures. Going to move onto Dark Mahogany and Acacia next.
Dark Mahogany and Acacia also had no failures at 3704 (despite Acacia having a recommended Craftsmanship of 3845 - oversight?).
Claro Walnut did fail at 3704. I'll check that one as soon as I buy more logs.
Claro Walnut appears to need about 3820 to prevent failure. It was failing at 3818 but not at 3822.
I was sticking to changing between Craftsmanship only foods once I had breakpoints narrowed down so Control seems to play no role in success rate, only chance to get HQ during quick synth.
As usual, if you see different results then please share.
I'm assuming results will be the same for all intermediate crafts with 40 Durability and same recipe level. I did try experimenting with using a lower offhand because of the earlier comments but saw no difference as long as I hit at least 3700 Craftsmanship for the lower level recipes.
