Thread: Is 2.0 a new game? a rebranding attempt? an update? an expansion? a fix? What Is It?

we can talk marketing and shop all day, but in the end, there's not really accurate gauge on what makes someone interested in a game. just because they read an article on IGN, doesn't mean they're going to be turned off. half the people on IGN don't even trust IGN, so what's your point? also who gives a shit anyway if it's a rebrand, redesign, reboot, revise, etc etc. the point is people and the media are talking about it.

some people will buy it just because it's an SE game
some people will buy it just because it does have Final Fantasy in the title
some people will buy it just because they are genuinely interested
some people will buy it because friends play it

there is no 100% perfect marketing strategy.

I personally feel like SE is doing an adequate job with their marketing campaign, which by the way hasn't even reached full force yet. and if you're still confused, well fine, remain confused. the very nature of this reboot is rather rare in the MMO industry, so it's bound to get some head scratches. but rather than writhe in agony about it, why don't you just wait and watch? I think one thread is enough.

Well to most people that left back in 2010 Most of the stuff right now can Warrant the feel of a New Game, with 2.0 its going to feel like its not the Same FFXIV back in 2010. The people that are playing now enjoying the games content Its just a MASSIVE update for us ( however it may feel like a New game Depends if they think the new maps look entirely different than before.)

But it is just a Remake of the game "Technically"

That was what i was meaning in the sense of an update. sorry it's kinda hard for me to type out long posts when I'm at work and I don't know when I will get a call in or because they actually record my computer and calling information whenever I'm on a customer support call.... right now i'm in an after call mode to type this out lol....

Sure, a lot is changing but calling it an entirely "new game" feels a bit like lying to people since a lot of things will stay the same after all.
But what's wrong with calling it the way SE called it so far? A new "version" of it?

Well, Considering all the maps are being completely redone.. that alone in itself makes the game " feel" new but its really not. If a Player played this game back in 2010 and quit shortly after and comes back at A Realm Reborn.. I'm sure he be like.. Is this the same FFXIV? Business way Your right it is a Redesign, in a Personal standpoint its going to feel like a Totally different game, just because of the Total Map Redesign of Areas ( Minus the Cities but even them may get a tiny face lift).

Not exactly the same story. It is a continuation while you can't replay the old story. Calling it the same story would be like calling the story in Harry Potter volume 2 the same as in Harry Potter volume 1. There is no chamber of secret in volume 1 and no philosopher's stone in volume 2.

We could say Final Fantasy XIV realm reborn is like a volume 2.

housing (with or after 2.0)

new engine

The last 2 are not content, but the most important. And it only that what SE told us so far. I'm sure they have still some stuff they didn't told us.
