Did I miss something: Yok Hyu conquest & disease.

Sorry to make another thread so soon, but this a bit smaller topic I promise.
    Heavy endgame spoilers ahead.

So the entire conquest the giants Yok Hyu went is a bit weird.

From what I've understood, they are originally from Yak T'el, the current home of the Mamool Ja, where the giants were digging a hole and they started to see visions of the Golden City (Living Memory).

But when we find the gate I think it's one of the scions, maybe G'raha who mentions that the giants never mentioned seeing any golden clittered walls like that at the Gate. So the gate appeared after the giants left Yak T'el and went for their conquest of the north.

So they build the bridge to Xak Tural, and very soon after that they start dying of an unknown disease that the locals seem relatively immune to.

And we learn that that some of the Alexandrian people suffer from a disease due to a lightning imbalance.

But I'm confused cause the dome wasn't in Heritage Found when the giants went there. So there wasn't any thunderstorms in heritage found that would cause the Yok Hyu to die.

Or is the disease native in the original Heritage Found and it's effecting the people of Alexandria now since they arrived there or was it their disease to begin with? and Sphene feels respoinsible because she brought the Alexandrians here?

It has to be the disease of the original Heritage Found right, the same one that seems like a common flu to the natives of this area?

Yok Huy ruled on almost the entirety of Yok Tural, not just Yak T'el.
The one mentioning they never made any mention of the gate was Gugool Ja Ja during the echo vision with Ketenramm, Galuf and him.

I think the disease they had is kind of a parallel to how European settlers introduced diseases when they reached the Americas, but reversed: they went there, caught their strand of the common cold, and oops it's deadly for giants.
It's almost certainly not the same as the lightning sickness, which seemed to be something they were dealing with for a while and similar to aether corruptions of the body / soul, similar to what we see in the First with light.

Ah, could be. Just felt weird that there's this mysterious disease surrounding the Yok Hyu, and when we go there there's some kid with an illness.
So I'm connecting dots I don't need to. Cool.

    The disease was described as:

For the local Tonawawta and Shetona, it was but a mild affliction of the sort that comes with the turning of the seasons.
So it's really just a seasonal cold, but the Yok Huy were affected severely because they had no resistance.

Yeah, your problem is assuming that two separate disorders are the same disease, despite one being a disease and one being an environmentally-induced syndrome.

They're different, and it's honestly entirely possible that the disease that stopped the Yok Huy isn't even a thing anymore; it might've just run its course and died out, or evolved to the point of unrecognizability.

The disease existing strongly suggests that the chasm separating Yok Tural and Xak Tural is very old, to have that real-world realistic disease pattern.

And you'd think Covid exposed people to how severe influenza strains are created and slowly weaken (The Americas has the most dramatic historical example, but even studies of the Late Stone Age show the population calamities). Or the Spanish Flu variant.

Meracydia I think won't repeat this plot point when we eventually get to it and will use the Allagan invasion to handwave disease contact.
