I just thought of some ways that SE could do and impliment with mobile apps that can connect to our characters on Final Fantasy XIV, while we are not online on the game.
This one came to me last night. Since A Realm Reborn will be focusing on Chocobo development, there should be an app that connects to our game so that we can raise our Chocobo on the go! Think of it as a virtual pet. We can check on our Chocobo and help raise them while we aren't physically able to play the game. Say that you're on a trip and you decide that you want to raise your Chocobo while on it. You log into the app using your Square-Enix account (we could use our tokens, but that's up to SE) and you can then access your character's Chocobo. There you can raise it as a virtual pet. See, I found it extremely frustrating when I played Final Fantasy XI with raising the Chocobo, because at the time I was busy with high school and homework, so I didn't have time to log into the game and raise my own personal Chocobo (you miss a day raising the Chocobo, your chances of bonding with it lessen and it runs away). This way with Final Fantasy XIV, we raise our Chocobo on the fly. Plus another thing with our Chocobo is that since an iPhone has an accelerometer, we could take them for walks. On the walks, our Chocobo could find items (food, crafting materials, crystals) or even special gear for our main characters.
Another thing is that we can check our inventory using an app, or for our retainers' sales.
We could also have a type of scanner. Say if a gaming magazine has a type of Final Fantasy card in there. We wouldn't know what the card has, but it has a type of bar/block code for us to scan. We scan it with our phone and then get unique gear or items that way, too. If GameInformer or something had a card, we would scan it with our phone. The phone would see it with its camera and then unlock the item, then we send it via our Square-Enix account to our characters' via the Delivery Moogles. These cards could come in a series but are randomized whenever we find one, so we won't know what the item is until we scan it. The items could make up a whole collection of gear (a complete set of gear, like how our jobs have the Artifact Gear) to use for our characters, or could be rare items.
What do you guys/gals think?
