Oh most certainly. That other writer only did a couple of side quests for Shadowbringers, and before that wrote 2 Adult Visual Novels. That's it. That's all they've done. I'd get you the name and links for proof, but I'm at work right now and all those sites are blocked, I'm actually amazed the forums aren't blocked.

If he pushed for a character like this either from personal preference or to try to make a new marketable character, it could explain how even the writer of solid pieces in the past may not have had a choice but to push something a higher up wanted.

That is also possibly. I mean this would have to have been approved on multiple levels though, unless we start speculating about office politics, and we do not have enough evidence to be doing that. Yet.

Game is good, probably the best it's been since Stormblood. Actually engaging non-boring fights and promising battle content, not to mention crafting and gathering both got some pretty nice stuff. Only bad part is the MSQ, but the MSQ is the least relevant aspect of the game in the grand scheme of things - You can have the best MSQ possible but once it's done it's done, and if you don't have engaging end-game content in a MMO people won't keep playing, and a dead MMO is a bad MMO.

Just give us Ishikawa back, for all her flaws as a writer she still wrote the best msq's (Shadowbringers/Endwalker) FFXIV has seen, but more than the high notes and the drama she made the characters really come to life in the little moments between the action. Better humor too, DT is too reliant on stupid sounded effects.

that said from what I did see I don't see any improvement to dungeons, its the same linear zerg to the boss

They've added what could basically be considered minibosses to some bits of trash. You have Qitana Ravel first boss but with added trash and lead-up hall mechanics, big stompy turtle that everyone has to keep running away from unless the healer puts it to sleep, and Calcabrina throwing an eternal Slapstick tantrum that forces a lot of healing or a Panhaima to look forward to.
It's not much, but it's something at least.

MSQ sure but gameplay? Majority of the people besides maybe here are enjoying the gameplay moreso then previous expansions beginnings.

suffice it to say this is the weakest and lowest point for FF14 (besides 1.0); Even with JP players not enjoying the expansion.
