Thread: 7.01 causing game to take forever to open and more!

As the title says, downloaded the 7.01 today, and tried to open the game and the game hangs on a black screen forever and out of the four times opening the game 2 times took literally 10 minutes before the SE logo pops up then takes ages to show the title screen and the other two times it crashes.

When I did get in I could see clear lag spikes upon loading in that never happened before. Teleported from Ul'dah to Mor Dhona and sat at a black screen forever and the audio cut out twice while it was trying to load me into the next area I suppose.

I'm hoping Square is getting this fixed cuz my brother who also plays this is not having the issue at all. Trying to redownload the patch files completely to see if that helps.

I also downloaded an update for the GeForce last night gonna do more research because its completely unplayable at this time. Super sad

Identical issue here, but I had everything running ok until today. Redownloading patch files rn too.

Same issues for me. Game now takes forever to boot. Also, when loading into Instance there is a huge hang on black screen before it properly loads.

It's random for me, but I have experienced this as well.

I redownloaded the whole Dawntrail Expansion and the patch yesterday and also rebooting pc after extensive troubleshooting that I dont think had anything to do with it and its resolved itself and I've loaded up the game multiple times now since and no issues and no more hang ups. I'm starting to think it may have been something they fixed in the backend or hell maybe some files went wonky cuz it never did that the entire DT expansion for me until the newest 7.01. But like I said above, redownloading the expansion and the patch files through the launcher fixed my issues and restart the pc after then try to launch the game.

At what point does the issue occur?
How often does the issue occur?

Could you provide the exact error message received?
Are you running any additional programs alongside Final Fantasy XIV?
Does the issue occur with one character or multiple characters?
When the issue happens, is the PC over heating at all?
Were any update or changes made to the PC around the time of the issue?
Does this issue occur if the game is run in full screen mode? Does it happen in borderless or windowed mode?

All steps taken to resolve the issue:

Could you provide a system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.

I am having the same problem and it was fine a few days ago. It freezes at the boot window and take a long time to get to the start menu. then 5 to 10 mins in or an event the game crashes with no error message just back to desktop. I have troubleshot down to uninstalling and wiping the hard drive of ff14 and reinstalling and it is the same
