The new fog looks good until you discover it moves with your player character. Moving right moves the fog right...
At least I have noticed this in Kugane.

It's unfortunate. ps4's holding the game back, as well as PC/laptops from 2001. This won't change until like 8 years from now considering how long it took to do this first graphic update. This is how it'll be until 9.0 or longer. I personally detest when devs use CHEAP methods to simulate weather and time of day. If there's one part of the game you shouldn't go cheap with is with the sky, weather, and lighting.
I actually think players like you are holding the game back. If you want realistic weather I urge you to go outside. It's unfortunate. ps4's holding the game back, as well as PC/laptops from 2001. this isn't new lol i had this same issue in ew. youre basically in a bubble, and that bubble controls weather elements and light. so you can approach a bright area, but your bubble goes over it and darkens it, but when you go past that spot and look back, its bright again. this isnt because clouds blocked the sun, but because we are encased in a bubble of effects that dont span the entire field before you.. etc
oddly this issue doesnt exist on console from my exeriences but on pc its running wild
Yeah, always annoying to see people who are obsessed about realistic graphics. Stylized graphics age so much better, and FFXIV is primarily stylized albeit with a slight lean into realism.
And unfortunately it's clear that the devs themselves fell into the realism trap when updating the graphics as seen with some faces as well as our eyeballs which are now very gooey, rather than somewhat cartoony.
