Prices only dropped and supply increased for those once the Loft's availability threshhold was lowered.

I guess my main complaint is Neon Wall Lights and Stone Partitions are a bad choice for vanity items. From a housing construction perspective they're mainly just regular building blocks. Nothing one would usually buy to show off, like a portrait or a fancy desk.

Stuff like lofts, partitions, doors, lamps are essential for building. They should not be treated as rare items. Specially in the partitions department we lack variety in the first place, because so much stuff is catered towards Marble Partitions, that seeing Stone Partitions restricted in this way hurts even more.

I don't know how much housing you do. I do a lot. And seeing items I need to build stuff I wanted to make for ages inaccessible like this is disheartening. I'm aware that they will increase availability at some point. They should never need to do that though. Rare items should stay rare. They just need to pick those items more carefully and not use essentials like floors, walls or light sources for it.
Don't know what's happening over there on EU but prices for Flagstone Lofts never stayed in the millions in NA. They dropped below a million within 6 months and bottomed out around 150k at one point before new sub sectors were added. Even then, the price increase was temporary, only got to about 600k then went back down to the 200-300k range after a couple of months.

Not every player gets to run a workshop while they do get access to retainers. Again, this is a temporary problem as more players start getting through DT MSQ and leveling their retainers to 100.

It's absolutely fine for them to be treated as rare items because you've always got all the other partition types to fall back on.

If you do a lot of housing then you'll also have access to a lot of retainers. Take advantage of them. Then you won't have to worry as much about relying on marketboard supply.

Why do I think so? Because the entire European market currently cannot even supply enough to make a single room.
Sounds like that will make for one sick room once someone is able to collect enough of them, and paying the right price to all those excited sellers. People don't want to let go of theirs because they want to have that fancy new room style? Raise the buying price.

You're literally experiencing a free market and finding you don't like the game of it.

Whether or not you feel the items should be rare is irrelevant, they are rare. So you are going to have to pay for it.

I feel the other way, I wish a lot of crafted stuff could only be obtained from crafting.

The current retainer system is messed up, the market is flooded with so much crafted furniture from ventures that some stuff sells under 1000 gil.

There are still plenty of other items that don't turn up in quick ventures. It takes a little time doing market research but it's generally not hard to find some crafted items that others aren't selling or aren't selling enough of to meet demand so price per item is high compared to cost to make.

People claimed the price would come down. Thread started in July. It's November now and Vertical Neon Wall Light is at 1,5 mio Gil and Horizontal Neon Wall Light is at 5 mio Gil on my server. Please stop it with the extremely rare items. It's not fun.

We actually have evidence the items probably won't be found elsewhere - there are already items that come from long ventures that aren't found anywhere else. (Young Water Lily)

Personally, I have been running 14 max level retainers through the level 100 ventures since a week after release (my main and my alt on different data centers) and have gotten exactly one partition, and one neon light. The drop rate is extremely low, as it was for the Young Water Lily.

Honestly I think the issue is not a matter of difficulty - its raw RNG. As I've been running 24 retainers for 4 weeks non-stop. Not a single light. The issue is that there is such a massive array of rewards (with more added) that it will likely only go down when the few that are up no longer sell and then you might see a trickle come into the market. The problem is that FF cannot really function under free market logic because the money never leaves the economy.

I’ve only seen one light so far, with 6 retainers doing the long ventures daily since they hit 100. No sign of the other light or the stone partition.

Like you say, once the level cap goes up next expansion, everyone will be sending their retainers out for the next new shiny, and then these will become near impossible to get. I foresee them getting added to a Moogle tome reward at some point unless they significantly increase the odds on them sometime soon!

Man, today I thought it would be really cool to build a cave with the Stone Partitions. I would need maybe a dozen of them. Let's see what they cost ... oh, only 3 mio Gil! Cool! Maybe I can afford this next summer or so! Only gotta wait months every time I want to do something with new housing content! I know, I know, I brought this problem to myself, I could also just make a basic room with basic items instead of doing fun things.

I disaggree and do not believe you brought this problem to yourself.
    - Housing items are teased in live letters by showing screenshots.
    - There is also an ingame furnishing preview showcasing all the cool stuff.
    - Developers are out of touch with the housing community, because journalists and YouTubers never speak out about housing to raise awareness during interviews.

They show you all the nice things you COULD build with, get you all excited, and then proceed to slap in your face if you dare and chose an item for your builds, that would be absolutely mundane in the world of FFXIV, like a wall made of stones or a neon lamp.

Developers are at fault for this problem, be it because of negligence or on purpose. They don't have to cater to everyone, but in this case they decided to cater to players who care about making gil and not to housing enthusiasts. It's a decision - whether it's a good or a bad one, everyone has to decide for themselves.

At this point I'm not even looking forward for furnishing updates anymore, like I used to. This expansion just... I don't know. Drained my motivation to do anything, even the casual things I used to do frequently. Currently the only thing that keeps my subscription going is housing, because I don't want to lose what I built up. But game design choices like housing item scarcity for what I consider specific basic building blocks, are slowly poking away my enjoyment.

Currently I'm waiting for the furnishing increase, because on my L house I cannot even change the interior design without making room for 400 furnishings in my inventory, since my storage has been full for ages - another developer-made problem. All of these tiny annoyances are starting to add up. Fun fact: I don't have 400 slots of free inventory space on my character, saddlebag and retainers combined.
