Why do solution 9 NPCs get more character creation options? (Raid quest spoilers)

NPC always had more options. The NPC have access to hairstyles that are locked to race/gender, they can have features that we dont have. An example, Viper job trainer, who is a Highlander has eyebrows, players dont have this option. We have seen Hyurs and Elezen with faces that are not available to us.

I dont think is a sign of what we are going to get, I think this is something that always was and will probably stay like this.

This IS new as these aren't custom NPCs, but rather utilizing the character creation system. Check Garland tools, none of them are unique models with unique features.

The super-bright hair doesn't require custom faces, because instead it seems that the devs have access to several more rows of hair colours that players can't see. (In the profile linked above, note that her highlights colour is "row 26" when we only have 24.) This is nothing new – the devs have been using it since ARR or probably even 1.0 to assign skin colours not naturally available to a character, particularly for Roegadyn, like Moenbryda's more human colour and Curious Gorge being a Sea Wolf recoloured to look like a Hellsguard.

The most literal explanation for this is because it's a completely different setting to the usual fantasy worlds we've been to. Everything about Solution Nine isn't really something that matches Etheirys as we've known it. It's a futuristic city, so you'd expect NPCs to have those exclusive settings. You wouldn't see crazy neon hair and eyes like that in Gridania for example.

I personally prefer the more natural settings and would rather not have those options (neon hair isn't really FF14 to me). Even if that's my opinion, people are still welcome to want these options (and it's not my business if it was actually added). I'm aware the game contains silly costumes that go against an established style.

Its not like culture from there couldn’t come over to us. Plus we already have futuristic stuff all over the place.


Also, to those saying no because custom. We are expressing our want for an updated character creators where we can choose neon colors and eyes. Its not a bad or big ask which can easily be done. We already started getting neon dyes of pink,red,blue and cyan (cant remember if I missed any). And people who do the M word for characters have shown these colors could be done.

I would like to play it, but all that pastel and neon lights are bad enough, have them moving at face paces messes with me and throws me into a fit of vertigo. The moment they showed the arena at the fanfest I knew I couldn't participate. They already go overboard and are getting increasingly worse by the expansion, imo, with boss animations that cannot be toned down. Add into that flying neons and I'm done lol. Older content is much easier simply due to the palet being darker, but someone on the design team has had a huge thing for really bright colors for a long time and that is a problem for a fair amount of ppl.

Probably a bit of a tangent here considering OP talking about S9 NPC but... I can't help but notice the VPR questline NPC has a legitimate eyebrow as a male highlander.... lmao.

This is most likely the case. Similar to how we see some npcs in solution 9 squatting.

Somethings are NPC exclusive for whatever reason but with enough player feedback they make their way in or are intended to be put in at a later date.

We have that squatting with NPCs in front of the Missing Member in Limsa for a much longer while now.
