So where's the part where you explain why Darnus one-shots the tank for no reason?
Hint: Tank was never on or near the stairs and he got hit for 9999.

Only time my tank has gotten one shot is when he wasn't in this position . So he would get thrown into the stairs and 1 shot.

Only one thing that wasn't mentioned: Once past 50%, when Darnus says "Yesss...", "Ahhh..." or "Just so..." he'll do 2x Iron Chariots then Lunar Dynamo. So it's good for melees to know not to run back in after getting hit the first one so they don't accidentally get hit again.
Other than that, great guide.
Weird how his positioning reminds me of Ifrit.
awesome! i was there!!![]()

So what's the trick to avoiding his damn lance beam? I can't seem to figure out the timing (or if I just need to keep moving to the side)
Also, my group came really close on the 1st run, but then his AoE started hitting everyone despite keeping him in the right spot, plus he teleported up and then came back down at me with Fierce Ravensbeak for 9999... I thought he only used this move if someone was at a different elevation? So why did he do it to me when I was tanking him the whole time on the 1st floor?!
0/6 now and really pissed... I want my win ; ;

Due to lag and such, you need to move to the side as soon as you can target him after he teleports in order to avoid the beam. If people are getting hit with the AoE, then guess what? You aren't positioned correctly. You probably need to move one or two steps forward. Sometimes that's seriously all it takes to be out of range of the AoE attacks. And don't forget to move up yourself when he teleports to the mages to do that AoE attack, because all the damage he does to you is HP and MP he absorbs into himself. :cSo what's the trick to avoiding his damn lance beam? Also, it sounds like one of the BLMs or BRDs that walked upstairs to take care of meteors got hate, which led to him teleporting upstairs to deal with them and then downstairs to one-shot you. The BLMs and BRDs need to be 100% sure they're as hate-free as they can be when they go upstairs or this will happen.
Hopefully this helps a bit. Keep it up, and good luck in the future.

No one else ever got hit by the lance, it's his other attacks.
Like I know with Lunar, as the BRD and Mages were all grouped up, I ran to them so that they were out of the AOE range (and then run back the moment he raises his lance so they're not hit).
But he just seemed to wreck everyone in phase 2 at random... I couldn't understand it. My party kept telling me I was like a hair off from the pillar but I sincerely doubt it's that precise. Might have just been his other moves that he unleashes around 50% and under in phase 2, like when he starts spamming just before & after his 2 hour.

Right, I added that in for you since you asked how to avoid getting hit with the beam. My husband tanked our run and that's how he did it.
No, really, it's stupid but it is that precise. However it's also something the mages should adjust to as well. It's not just your job to move if they're getting hit, it's also theirs.

Ugh you gotta be kidding me...
. _ . I just want to win this stupid fight so I can go back to happily achievement hunting for stuff that won't be there in 2.0 (maybe try to get some better PLD gear or lv my MRD)
