This makes me think you might benefit from adjusting your display settings; regardless of whether it's night time or raining, you should be able to see clearly. There are some games that want darkness and weather to make it more difficult to see, but FF14 is not one of them.

Seems like > 50% of the time that I login it's night and/or it's raining. When it's both night and raining, and I'm out in the field doing regular quests, I can't see a damned thing. I find it super un-immersive when it's a bright and sunny day IRL but the game world is deep night and stormy.

That's my rant. TY for reading.
I would prefer if I could control the skybox on my client - especially in cutscenes where we are like standing in the middle of a field where it's pouring down rain.
Weather is immersive sure but when people are getting soaked for no good reason it breaks immersion.
I guess it would then also be immersion breaking if all cutscenes were sunny only to go back and be night time or raining out.
Or those oh so lovely Fog weather patterns where like the game looks like it set you on some GPU saving Render distance mode. lol

    I'd prefer it personally.

But it's just something you got to deal with.

Ask for not being able to see in the dark that is something that shouldn't be happening I'd tweak your settings.

I do feel like it rains way more often. I moved from my plot in lavender beds to the mist because I was tired of it always raining and yet it has been raining sooo much more than before. I want to be able to take cute photos of my boy on the beach but it's always freaking raining and if it's not raining, it's nighttime!

I much prefer more impactful weather and day/night effects. Compared to WoW, where nighttime barely lowers the brightness and changes the sky to a slightly more muted shade of blue.

When I was new I was impressed and remain to be impressed with the game's weather system. I personally don't mind it, but I guess it could be an issue if you're struggling to see??? I never had an issue with that though...

To me it's immersive. I only wish there were more weather types I guess, something that changes certain things in the zone. It'd be amazing if there were seasons too...but that's a dream.

It is a bit of a shame that there's no seasons in XIV like XI had. XI was a pain since, if it was winter in Vanadiel, you couldn't get a Heatwave very easily which made unlocking Summoner a pain in the butt. You had to wait several irl weeks for the season to change for the chance of a Heatwave to rise. lol I don't miss it but it certainly was immersive.

On the topic of Night & Rain it reminds me of every time someone wants to show off their character and it's almost always a Lalafell standing in the rain at night. :P

Nah, it's not just you, sometimes it seems like every cutscene ends up being dark. I'm find with just general atmospheric weather, but I wish cutscenes would temporarily turn off the weather unless it's plot relevant, and temporarily make it brighter if it's dark out.
