    Aiming Gear

    Hi again, Dev team!

Please, for the love of all things precious, stop giving us ugly aiming gearsets for job gear and tome gear. Namely mch, but aiming in general too. We always get shafted for ugly gear. Even the crafted sets are always ugly for aiming. PLEASE STOP THIS and give us at least one really awesome outfit per expansion from either raids, crafted , or tomes. Thanks!

Sincerely, most of us ranged mains.

I think the reason why Aiming tend to look like a rag is because the design mostly based on the assumption it's for archer/hunter as it's the original aiming class. Outside of relic gears we rarely see aiming gear made with a MCH/DNC aethestic. That's said there are some good piece for MCH if you look at the PvP section.

?? It's felt the opposite to me, it's a very frequent pain point actually.
Most of the time we get these grungy, post-apocalyptic looking sets with guns on them for some reason - which makes no sense for 2/3 of the role's aesthetic. They seem to HIGHLY favor the MCH side of aiming to the point that it's a constant thorn in my side as a dancer.

Why do striking and scouting often get sets that look like they were designed specifically for a bard? Hell that one Scouting Eden set looks like it could be a BRD AF, but aiming got some MCH thing again.

Where are the fruity bard sets for aiming?
When will there be an aiming set that remembers that dancers will also be wearing it?

I still have specific grievances about the neo-ishgard set... not only because of the gender issues (which are due to the player who designed it, not SE for once), but because SE didn't even follow the player's direction. The player designed it with a gun on the slacks - that's fine, we have 5million pairs of slacks and I wasnt going to keep another pair, especially if it had a gun on it. But SE didn't put the gun on the slacks (because that would make the slacks actually unique from the other 4.9million slacks - halone forbid), and instead they put the gun on the chestpiece. So now I can't even enjoy an otherwise fitting top on my DNC because it has a GUN on it.

I think the most DNC/BRD favored sets we've had lately are the Lunar Envoy and Rinascita, both are great. More like this please.

I don't disagree that Aiming Gearsets should be more versatile considering the varied applications of each class, but this isn't actionable feedback. It's entirely subjective. So what is it about Aiming gear that you find ugly? Do you have specific gearsets in mind? What are you looking for that you would consider not "ugly"?

I thought a lot of the later Aiming designs got re-centered on MCH once that was added? Maybe I'm just not far enough to see, most of what I do requires checking the market boards due to differences in job vs MSQ level.

I went hunting for a nice veil to use and was very frustrated that the little bandana is basically my only option on Bard. There's a moonward one, but only for Striking and Scouting? ??? But Dancers are in the Aiming group...

On a brighter note: I am so delighted that there is a very nice bow that looks like an actual bow functions. I can't use it yet, I can't afford it yet, but one day I will have the
    Ceiba
Longbow, with its lovely detailing and complete lack of flashing effects. :joy:

"ugly" is a subjective claim as what some people like others don't

take a look around the game at just what dyes and glams people use and you'll see everyone has varied tastes.

A lot of Aiming gear feels like it was designed for machinist first. Which is odd considering the job design feels like machinist goes last among the three.

Theming right for Aiming gear is almost impossible. Dancer is culturally rooted in a move set based on traditional Thavnairian, Machinist is culturally rooted in an early industrializing Ishgard, and Bard is rooted in the rustic fantasy medievalism of the Twelveswood.

There is just no common ground between the three of what an 'aiming' set should look like. Bards want outfits (and fancy hats) that express a performer's flair, Dancers want ribbons and flowing fabrics that do not impede movement, and Machinists want practical protective all-climate cover.

Yeah, back when Heavensward hit, that was definitely the feeling I got too (bard main then as well). In ARR, all the aiming gear was fairly flamboyant (because BRD was the only aiming job, aside from accessories it shared with NIN, but accs aren't much of glam), but then when HW came around aiming gear became this weird mishmash because it had to fit both jobs. It ended up with gear that had almost none of BRD's flamboyance, and probably not much of MCH's aesethetic either, and just basically not much identity (beyond being more prone to long body pieces than melee). Funnily enough, DNC which came in later would have probably meshed a lot better with BRD's aesthetic (music and dancing go pretty hand in hand), but MCH's aesthetic being so much different already made the aiming aesthetic have to be the weird directionless mishmash it is nowadays.

Getting rid of robes would be a good start. And this affects all roles. This game isn't Final Fantasy, it's Robe Fantasy.
