All of us here, know the game has improved greatly and even more so when 2.0 comes out. However, a lot of people out there are still not amused by the Screenshots/Trailer and the Information provided via Interviews.

Some people are one-tracked minded out on the internet, " oh FFXIV again? I thought it was dead, not sure if I want to since it failed once already". Not that I blame them for thinking that way, It's just people don't give games in general a second chance to shine.

So I am here today, to ask you to rise up and give any information you would like to suggest to SE so when they make the push at Gamescom/PAX/25th Anniversary/TGS.. that they can take some of that information to heart when try to make this game a success.

Even if the game is the best ever.. it won't do any good without players to play on it.. and that's hard when alot of people think FFXIV is a failure.

    Advertise, Advertise, Advertise!

    I can't stress that enough.

Also, they can't be dumb about fixing shit. It took SE for FFXIV to flop to realize that they make mistakes too. For the entirety of FFXI they've just ignored any and all problems. Not to mention they need to put some logical thought into this game. Like the whole bs with DoL and the stealth ability, where not only is it level based but you move slower than molasses. The only thing you do as a DoL is harvest. Why can't they at the very least run when using stealth? It's that kind of stupid crap that people don't want to put up with. And don't get me started about how this game is going FFXI's route of marginal increases. At cap I should feel as if my character can take on the world, right now? I don't feel any different than on level 1. D=

But yeah, they need to advertise the hell of it and make it worth people trying it out again. They need to prove that this game is worth investing into once again.

They've dug this hole themselves and only they can crawl out of it. Showing a trailer with terrible voice acting is just not cutting it, neither is a rehash of screenshots and artwork that we've all already seen.

Oh and, how about not making the rewards for buying the collectors editions suck this time around? In real life, I got a little journal thing with tiny artwork which I was horribly disappointed in. I also got a certificate which I've looked at once and never again.... In game, I got the stupid version of speedy boots and the onion helm. Would it have killed them to have the speedy boots be a permanent movement speed increase when they were being worn? Apparently so, because 30min is all we get.

Need to be advertised, not only by the internet, but on TV or on large billboards will make a bigger impact. Or both.

    high metascore also helps.

Television advertisements that aren't 15 seconds long.

Invest in a commercial during a special event like the super bowl. Final Fantasy XIII had a commercial during a basketball game. Put a commercial in a pre-movie trailer at the theatres.

Yoshi P could perhaps try not to say "it's a secret" everytime an interviewer asks what's good about FFXIV.

    For a start.

And when he does explain, he might like to give some other description than simply: "it's going to be very different".

I mean, really. People can't put their hopes and dreams into vague promises like that.

I'm pretty sure he's saying all he can without getting in trouble with the company's legal and marketing departments, or giving competitors good ideas with enough time for them to rush out the same thing before 2.0 goes live.

There's nothing they could probably think of that hasn't been done before, or thought of before. Swimming, airships, housing, all this stuff's been done before, and probably better than SE will end up doing it. Be reasonable.

And maybe it's true that the marketing department has stringent policies on what to release, and when to release it, but it's pretty rude for Yoshi to string people along without letting them know what they're actually to expect on release. It generates empty hype.

I'm perfectly reasonable. I never said it had to be something totally original. I'm just pointing out that similar content timed to release preemptively can seriously detract from interest in this game for some people. It's a legitimate concern.

And where do you get off saying that we're not going to know what to expect on launch? Not revealing something RIGHT F'ING NOW is not the same as hiding it until it's in the final build and can't be changed. Yes, Tanaka did that, but the whole mandate of the current development team is 'don't make the same mistakes as the first time'.

I'm thinking of this like this (and one poster above have already said it). I am solely speaking as a CUSTOMER, and not as a professional.

As a layperson, casual customer who is totally ignorant: If Aion, HellGate London, APB, want me to re-try their massively failed games, they need to be pulling all their stops in trying to convince me. I should NOT have to go to their forum and hunt for information. I should be presented on a golden plate, not a silver plate, all of the information that will convince me to re-sub! okay? this is to re-sub, meaning that it's costing me money, re-sub to their games.

It would be nice to have a free trial period, this will help a lot for me. Also, I should be able to go to youtube and see these new trailers, go to facebook twitter and hear about chatter about these. The teaser trailer site should be very robust, and should include footage of gameplays. Screenshots are nice, but further along, as we get closer to beta release, I should be able to see more and more. I believe SE has already promised this, but let's see if they can deliver.

Again, as an ignorant customer who was disappointed by Aion, Hellgate London, APB, if these games released a fully CGI trailer, it wouldn't convince me at all. I think that was a mistake to release it. They should've waited until August when they planned to have more information. The next time I see an article titled Aion: The Realm Reborn, I doubt I would click it because I already saw that CGI trailer, and I felt like I was already fooled twice. I would not want to click another link for fear of being fooled thrice.

I showed that trailer to a friend, an MMO veteran, who tried FF14, but has since abandoned it, and all he said was, "So is this an expansion? Did they fix the UI?" . I'm like WOW, we sometimes are blinded because we are so biased, but the mass throng of people are really uninformed about this, and the first thing they saw after quitting in September 2010, was that CGI trailer. No wonder that trailer received negative comments and reviews from the posters on all gaming websites.

Also I want to point out, my friend was not bitter, or hateful about it. He was genuinely sincere in asking that question, and the question was very fair. He was just uninformed. So if we have thousands of people out there, who aren't bitter, ( and these are the people we want to attract ) and are perhaps willing to give the game a second chance, then how come they are still uninformed today? I hope this will change in August.

They need to show the new better combat system if they really have one.

If that has only tweaks to the current one it's going to be a hard sell. In that case the best bet is just to show off new landscape but it has to be jaw-dropping FF-style awesomeness.

If the only selling point is the new desert has cacti in it people won't care. Take a look back to IX and X ads that did that well.

Personally though if they haven't improved the combat or story I'm just not going to care and I really hope they have pulled a great game together. We current players should know better at this point screens or videos won't be enough the game has to be good for us to believe it. Time for words and hyperbole has passed bring on the cake that you promised or gtfo.

I think part of the consumers are only going to pay attention if the re-release gets great reviews.
Sadly it's a bit much to assume it'll get a big jump at metacritic because not all sites are going to give it a second chance.
