Personally I disagree myself, because this expansion is when we finally got a form of challenge that is satisfying once you beat it, and it should have been like this in Endwalker.
As for the raids? I appreciate the welcome change, especially after two amazing raids from Abyssos being the biggest snoozefest, ever. (Those being the Sixth and Seventh Circles, and both were stupidly brain dead on launch and EASY to figure out, which doesn't help that it was the 6th circle was easiest fight in the second savage tier, possibly out of the entirety of EW Savage raids discounting the first circle)
I would also ask for examples about your 4th point regarding "too many "Catch this!" mech" because, I don't think I can come up with any example other than honey B's heart thingy.
Which, shocking revelation: NEW RAID SERIES THAT JUST CAME OUT, JUST SO HAPPENED TO HAVE BRAND NEW MECHANICS that nobody knew how to figure out on day 1, and that's okay! dying and wiping is a part of the learning process, and nobody is expected to clear content blindly on launch (unless we got another O1S situation, cause from what I know: it was identical to the normal version, but now there are no guard rails!)
We are currently at Lv100, 5 expansions in, with so many abilities to help mit the damage taken from raidwides and other mechanics (In fact, 90 buttons across every job!), so a form of challenge at that point is kinda...required you know.
The devs finally decided to make *something* slightly more difficult (dungeons, trials and now raids. And by "more difficult" I mean doing 10 points of damage than 8) and all we get is a few asking for a piece of content to be nerfed to the point of being Praetorium levels of brain dead.
If you need help on how to use a job during any piece of content: Youtube guides, The Balance or Icy Veins, and a striking dummy exist, and will do you just fine!
Growing up on vanilla/tbc wow probably lowered my standards way too much for me to not see much issue with that.I wish people would stop bringing this up as a way to shield any criticism towards the voice acting. Some of the voice direction is plain bad, Bakool Ja Ja and even some of the scions have weird intonations in their voices. Wuk Lamat is brought forward a lot cause she has the most lines and screentime.
When she has to shout, her voice doesn't follow and her appearance in the last trial took me off because that "Sphene" was just awful.
The MSQ would be way better if the quest structure wasn't:
- Speak to Wuk Lamat
- Speak to Wuk Lamat again
- Speak to Wuk Lamat yet again
- Speak to 3 villagers
They need to change things up or they're gonna bleed out players.
DT has a lot of mid things going for it but thankfully, the fights aren't it. If it was, this expansion might have been worse than ARR.
I mean, questing in MMOs was always dull but at least you get the current ones done quickly, and you're not fighting overworld mobs for like 20 minutes to get 15 bear butts that have a 10% drop chance from the bears. I also find that current quests follow pretty much the same formula they have been following in this game since forever. FF14 is pretty much the most formulaic game of all time after all.
Transphobia cope, the voice actor sucks ass. Ruins an otherwise decently written character.Honestly, even in this thread, something like 95% of people like the new content in terms of the combat, but it seems many people have issues with the story.
Some of this is just naked transphobia, which is just BS.
Some of it is because the WoL is not the center of the story. TBH our story arc has been completed and we have to be a mentor because there really isn't a credible threat out there for us.
Some of the criticism might be for cultural pluralism, to which i say, what game have you been playing? FFXIV has always been about anti-imperial cultural pluralism from the begining.
Some just didn't like a Simple Shonen tournament arc story. Wuk Lamat is basically furry naruto, and that's ok.
It's also very hard to followup Shadowbringers/Endwalker that dealt with deep exitensial themes with tremendous empathy, which might have created some of the best stories and most nuanced perspectives i've ever seen.
IMO dawntrail story was fine, it wasn't bothersome at all. IMO the combat was great and refreshing and I'm HYPE for savage, but if anything Dawntrails lesser (but still very good) reviews is probably about the story and NOT about the combat.
The raids weren't hard at all. I died once between all 4 of them and that was because I didn't pay attention to the size of the bomb fuses in M3. Anyone saying these raids were "too hard" needs to go back to Omega and Alexander MINE and then come back lol.
I don't disagree with you on this quest structure being boring. At least it's way better than ARRI wish people would stop bringing this up as a way to shield any criticism towards the voice acting. Some of the voice direction is plain bad, Bakool Ja Ja and even some of the scions have weird intonations in their voices. Wuk Lamat is brought forward a lot cause she has the most lines and screentime.

1) I disagree.
2) in FF13 people said a ton of bad things about the english voice cast, and when you play it, you feel it, but it was more the direction as that cast has done well since. I replayed it with Japanese voice cast and was outstanding.
3) Honestly, the whole voice cast was quite a departure in both their direction, style, and wording from the previous expansions, but I think it's because they used actors from the Americas. Wuk Lamat's VA is Puertorican and Gulool JaJa's is Nicaraguan, for example. It creates a different feel we're not used to, which is in part of the reason.
That said, this topic is pretty far away from the dungeon content, I think it's safe to say the grand majority of us liked the battle content in DT.
I just assumed it was bad voice direction, since the VA for Wuk Lamat is pretty decent in their other works.
Devs should make a difficulty for dungeons where you cant die just for people like you to complete MSQ, but these wouldnt drop gear, tomes, exp, achievements or anything.
But really, if you have a extremely low tolerance to frustration is not the games fault.
If you dont even want people to carry you and the only way to make you happy is make content braindead, then you are jealous of players that can clear by themselves and you want to take away their fun.
If you upload a video of how you play maybe we can figure out why you find it so difficult and we find it so easy, maybe its something we can fix with some tips or a guide.
