They are truly struggling with identifying and responding to mechanics. Which makes me think that if the engine/netcode were improved so that visuals/damage snapshots actually lined up they wouldn't have any easier of a time getting through it.
Wholeheartedly agree. Once you understand how snapshots work and how ping fundamentally affects the game, you can play around it. Excessive ping (anything into the mid 3-digits, especially if jitter is a factor which people gloss over a lot) will still affect your rotation, but you can mitigate this through class choice, usage of skill queueing to ensure optimal weaving, or avoiding double weaves where not absolutely necessary. On the other hand, there are things you can do that are only possible because damage snapshots exist, such as cast a Benediction directly before a tankbuster lands, but have the healing apply after, or mitigate a raidwide with Eukrasian Prognosis while double dipping Pepsis for healing. That isn't the issue people have with the game, people are either unwilling to learn or don't know that pattern recognition is important in this game and comes with practice.
