Please bring back the 7.0 Dual Sense deadzone (or give us the option)

For once the deadzone was perfect, it simulated how it behaved on the ps5 perfectly. With a cross-like deadzone in which we were able to move in straight lines consistently. Now suddenly it's being considered an issue and with 7.01 we have reverted to the near non existent deadzone.

Let me be clear, this isn't a stick sensitivity issue, I've tried from sensitivity 0-100 and they all have the same problem. That setting just affects how much you have to move the stick from it's resting position in order for it to register an input.

What we got with 7.0 was a cross deadzone where if you tilted the stick forward but perhaps there was a very very slight inclination to the right, you would still move straight forward

Now it's been reverted in 7.01 to what I assume to be a circular deadzone. Try zooming your camera in and out using the right stick, it will rotate left and right because the lack of a cross deadzone, it's registering the micro inputs of left and right when you're only meaning to go back and forth

All in all the 7.0 deadzone was superior to some of us and for once I didn't have to resort to steam input and could actually use the dual sense features. As I said previously, I started out on the ps5 and on there it behaves exactly how it did in 7.0 on PC. It was consistent.

I play via steam now but i started on ps4, and i use my ps4 controller. the super sensitive left n right has been a major pain for me since i started on pc. I haven't been able to find any fix at all for this, let alone anyone that even knows what im talking about when i mention it. adjusting the stick sensitivity helped a very small amount, but made scrolling the map worse, so its not really helping it get better, or like what im used to/expect

will give 1mil gil to the player who gives me the fix lmao

I just retired my dualsense due to stick drift. The sooner you get off that POS the better. When looking at the controller market, I found multiple 3rd party brands offering controllers with higher quality parts at similar prices. I did like the dualshock 4 but the cable housing and micro usb were terrible.

Yep on ps5 the dual sense works perfectly, however on PC there is a noticeable lack of a cross dead zone, they patcheed it to be identical with the PS5 version with dawntrail however have since considered it an "issue" and have reverted it with 7.01 so trying to walk in a straight line or trying to zoom the camera in and out it shifts slightly to the left and right constantly on PC, it's entirely impractical for things such as tight rope mechanics and is generally just a huge annoyance.

Can you give some examples? All 3rd party controllers I've tried have been terrible.

    1. Open your controller settings on the FFXIV Library steam page (On the right, with a picture of a controller, near the add to favourites button and such)
    2. Enable Steam Input
    3. Select Edit Layout
    4. Go to Joystick then click the top most cog. Here you can manually adjust the deadzone of the joystick you selected by selecting deadzones on the left
    5. Scroll down to where it says "Deadzone Source" and change it to Custom, then below change the Deadzone Shape to Cross
    6. Play around with the sliders until satisfied, I find 15 - 100 works pretty well.
    7. Repeat for the left Joystick

The controller settings can be a bit finicky at times, if for some reason some options aren't showing, try closing the settings and trying again.

You, friend, are a scholar and a saint, thank you very much! that's much better than before. I'll probably tinker with it and the stick sensitivity til it feels just right, but this is definitely a major improvement!

You're very welcome! The only reason I know how to do such things is because it was bugging me to no end after switching from console to pc, like yourself. Only issue i've found is you lose the haptic feedback from the ps5 dualsense when using steam input but with ps4 dualshock 4, it should be very very similar to how it performs on there
