Get those horrible graphics out here. Clearly WoW, Rift, SWTOR, TERA, Aio, GW2 has the best looking graphics. XIV graphics suck. I mean why does fabric look like fabric? That makes no sense.

Why is it when you look at the raw model data you can see appropriate lighting and reflection that looks almost borderline metallic? Pft.

The only Issue XIV 1.0 has is the engine wasn't suited for MMOs so it's largely unoptimized (AO will drop FPS for many), but the graphics are perfectly fine in itself.

as far as technical graphics this game is superior to just about anything out there. the technical of number of polygons and such are super high, but that also means that you need a really powerful computer to run this version of the game.

now as far as what is more visually appealing that is up to the eye of the beholder. just because it is technically more graphic intense doesn't mean that it looks better. to me the game looks great by comparison to other games, but i think there needs work in alot of places. i can also see where people that have a different opinion could have that conclusion as well. i think this post says it best:

"Good graphics" are subjective.

there's good graphics and there's visually appealing good graphics. the graphics are good technically, but it may not be visually appealing.

I was about to talk about graphics =/= aesthetics but someone beat me to it...
Basically for those who don't know the difference:
Graphics are the capability to show something, aestetics are what they decide to show.
FFXIV has some of the best graphics of MMOs out there and is making them even better for 2.0.
Aesthetics aren't so great though (in most areas) since it's all just brown-greenish copy&paste landscape.
That's supposed to change with 2.0 as well.

Yeah, you know how WOW, Aion, Rift etc is so much colorful than XIV ! Well, colorful = better graphics!
