Dawntrail isn't 10 year plan that we expected it

FFXIV is game that highly focus on story aspect

If story fail game will fail

10 year plan was so ambiguous with no clarity on how it will be implemented.

As Yoshi has argument that this expansion is a "test"

Dear Yoshi P expansions can never be test environment

We had 5 big patches that we could test.. not a major part of the story.

If we got writing team that is "new" let them create side stories like how ShB creates dark knight story before shadowbringers

"New" should not be jumped into expansion story and do some ice cream ark with sphen and wuk Lamar.

Writers have potential but they are not ready for expansion yet.
We have to trust them on side stories first.

At the end want clear plan on what to become next

10 years plan should be clear

Story should be able to build up to next expansion not selling expansions like separate stories that have no purpose of world building

Gameplay and combat system need a clear plan of what will be implemented at 1 to 2 year from now

Side activities and social aspect of that like housing

We want to be part of 10 year plan as a players who invest time and money and love for this game

I was thinking about this, about how Dawntrail was supposed to lead in to another grand adventure. Then it just... doesn't. There's no interconnecting tissue, no lead up. It just...stops. No hints, just... frustration.

I have no faith in the 7.X lead up either. 6.X lead up to us helping restore a shard and then took a hard left turn into fanfiction territory while dropping that entirely.

Ehh while I don’t think that DT sets up “enough”, the Azem shard key is definitely more of a setup than anything to do with zero and the jaunt through the 13th

Just wait until we get access to shard travel by 7.3 and drop that thing entirely.

I mean if we get unrestricted shard travel to the remaining 4/5 shards (we already have access to the first and Alexandria if that is or isn’t the shattered remnants of the 12th or not and while we can traverse the 13th there is no aetheryte we have access to) it’s going to be because of that key so I think that’s a big enough plot point

Dawntrail probably opened more possibilities than previous expansions though. I mean, could you really have guessed after defeating Thordan that the next steps of the journey will involve liberating Ala Mhigo and Doma and going to the First? Those threads opened up in 3.X.
After defeating Shinryu nothing was pointing towards our visit on the First at all. I remember a lot of people thought we would deal with Garlemald next.
And now DT is quite clearly hinting at using that key and exploring the rest of Tural with Erenville. At least that.

We literally only have the base expansion story to go off of and not any of the patch content and you people are already complaining that there's no setup for future story/conflict.

Because in base ARR after we took down Ultima Weapon we totally knew all of the wild rides we'd be on.
