Is anyone else seeing non-stop smog in the Goblet?

I'm just fed up throwing this stuff into the bug report forum, everything gets filed in the "not enough information" bin before anyone gets a chance to chime in about whether they've seen things.

I've been standing in the Goblet watching the smog for several days with no end in sight. It's socked in solid.


I've got lots of pics of this spot, and the view used to be gorgeous.


Is there some weather setting I need to tweak, or has the Goblet just been set on fire?

What is the <pos> I can go look. Our FC house is in the Goblet but I haven't noticed any fog.


Edit: I wandered around there and messed with some graphics settings and yeah, it seems foggy.

POS is X: 13.1, Y:13.0, near Goblet Southeast aetherite, overlooking the canyon at the edge of the map. Can also see it from up the hill at X: 14.1, Y: 11.7.

It's like there's a solid wall of fog surrounding the outer boundary. I'm waiting to see if it changes in the rain, but so far it's been present in all times of day and cloud cover types.

Look at Sea of Clouds or Mist, both at sunset, everything is just completely foggy in clear weather, it looks absolutely terrible.

I used to love sunsets, I could even just sit there and watch the sun slowly set, now all you can see is fog, fog and more fog, same for sunrise.

Thanks for ruining it for me, I'm glad we had this great "update" that basically made everything worse.

Have you ever thought about how this is just a bug? Do you people really believe that they would intentionally just obstruct any kind of view through fog?

There have been a lot of graphical changes that leave me scratching my head with this update, and I really worry that many of them may be intentional.

I couldn't imagine this actually being on purpose though. It looks like the fog is just a permanent fixture in a bunch of areas, and isn't being properly adjusted by the weather system. Whether this is a graphics thing or a weather setting is up for grabs.

Most of it isn't intentional but unavoidable since they shook up the entire shader engine. So they are going to have to re visit certain cutsceenes and move the light sources around.

Perhaps if the game wasnt ridden with those, I'd have a little bit more trust in SE.

Housing issue which is <technically> getting fixed with 7.0.5 (god knows if they wont make things worse), outdoor issues such as the ones in the picture, the models which are pretty mediocre in a lot of cases, amongst a lot of other things.

So no, this might be a bug yeah, but I dont trust them to fix it in a proper manner at the very least, so yes, this update was just there to make the game worse, in my own personal opinion, it made things I loved worse, especially the environment, and god knows when they'll fix it, and by fix it, I mean fix it properly.

The thing bugging me the most currently is the fact that the changes in model and texture formats have made the textures on the brand new AF gear look like crunchy PS1-level garbage textures. They made the new gear textures upscaled for more detail, but didn't upscale the color data layer accordingly, and now the new gear looks like a mosaic of colored pixels.

The weather and lighting issues are probably going to gradually get worked out, but the texture issues they introduced were design decisions, probably to reduce texture loads for the console versions. Would be great if they allowed PC players the option of higher detailed texture files.
