No they're not. The same skillless players are getting flattened by the same stuff they've been getting flattened by since ARR, but anyone with a bare minimum of skill is still bored.

Eh, I found the mechanics more interesting in some fights, but it's only so much help for the healers since you're basically just weaving the odd OGCD to fix a fuck up or a CD for raidwide. It's better, but the DPS rotation is still bad.

It's pretty fun stuff as black mage, though.

I was really cool with the idea of taking the grand tour of the new area, as a tourist on vacation, lending my strength to assist Wuk. It was really nice change of pace from the rest of the game, that I have completed from lvl 0-90 msq at least a dozen times. It's kinda nice to be able to be responsible for big things, but from the shadows where we aren't getting brown nosed by every Tom, Dick, and Harry. It is so tiring to be the center of attention 24/7, to be overly worshipped 24/7, to have to be everyone's savior and fix everyone's problems all the time always forever until the end of time. The old way needed to be moved away from after 10 years. It's really long overdue.

Except that still wound up happening anywhere because out of seemingly nowhere yet another tired "save the world for oblivion" plotine occurred once Sphene enters the picture. Of course, the narrative still trips over itself desperately trying to put Wuk Lamat at the forefront even if her story already concluded with her succeeding the Dawnthrone. Alas, we're treated to one of the weakest villain setups in Zarool Ja simply to justify her existence in what should be our moment. It's almost ironic the writers seemingly lacked conviction in keeping to a low stakes narrative when that criticism can be attributed to nearly every character.

It all comes down to player preference at the end of the day. As it stands in my opinion, we as the player weren't needed in the grand scheme of things. Any Scion could have taken our place and done the same thing
