    You can have your friend make an image of the CD. This is a very touchy subject with some companies and I don't know how SE feels about it but since it is your CD you have the right to make an image of it for your own keeping. So have your friend make the image and send the file to you. It's no big deal getting all of that done.

    EDIT: Make sure your friend deletes the CD image he makes. Also, why can't he just mail you the CD? It's not going be anything expensive..
