No. How a bout instead we just keep the cap at 100, and just increase in power with gear. Then occasionally have an ilvl squish once in awhile. The effects of having my item being ilvl 2500 back to ilvl 250 aren't as noticeable. For starters I can take a break from the game, and get the newest set of tomestone gear to catch up. Compared to if you take a break from the expansions and now have 10-30 levels to catch up on.

Wouldn't the progression of higher and higher ilvl mean there would be content with more and more difficult monsters?
Or are you simply thinking that in the end players will get more and more OP and in the end simply squish whatever we're facing?
But lets imagine that there would be more difficult monsters and content to go along with said higher ilvl stages.
Once that ilvl squish comes along, that content would be "out of reach" since the monsters in them would hit too hard and you too little with your newly reset ilvl.
I guess that means we won't need any more expansions, since we can just repeat the "endgame" over and over again.

I'm aware it would never happen, and I'm aware the playerbase would throw a temper tantrum over it. I just think it would be a positive change if you look at it after all is said and done.

Also, lol, "better hope your job is good enough to clear a raid tier". FFXIV jobs have never, never been unbalanced to the point you couldn't clear with a job. They literally test fights using the least optimal comp. Effectiveness is only a concern because the game has so little else going for it, you have to focus on tiny little dps differences that don't matter in the scheme of anything.

The argument for levels is always that we get stronger, but looking at the reality of things.
When expansions drops we will suddenly find trivial mobs that rivals the mightiest of gods.
Our classes/jobs becomes cluttered with random things because the devs HAVE to find something new for them.
And past content becomes trivialized and broken forcing devs to possibly have to put extra effort into fixing it, especially when it's dug up and repurposed like the Ultimate and Unreal fights.

If that 10 level grind have to exist for every job each expansion, then find out something that can work as a substitute for it.
they might do a level squish, i do not know to what level but it might be worth doing. either that or just making the content scale (like in wow if i queue in a dungeon and im lv30, the mobs on my screen will appear lv30 but to someone who's lv15 they will appear to be lv15) so that we have our kits available. i know that wasn't your main gripe but that's mine with the way we get more and more levels. wow had that problem and it felt pretty bad in bfa to hit lv60-70 and then just not get anything for the next 30-40 lvs (in bfa the cap was 120)

Every time Horizontal progression happens in an MMO. the community immediately maths out the best choices numbers wise.
It's why we don't have cross-class skills that we can choose any more.

honestly i don't mind them increasing lvls each xpac, IMO WoW was fine to be up to lv 120 and I had multiple alts

Same here, I never cared for it either. Too much content ending up as dead weight.
Though I don't think my opinion is a majority opinion. Many people seem to enjoy leveling. *shrug*

As for the class changes: Mixed bag. Some are great, some I could live without. Learning new stuff as the story progresses is cool, doesn't necessarily need arbitrary level numbers though.

Tell me about it. Man, brand new in WoW, wanted a nice dress from an event and needed to go through a lv 35 zone as a level 6. :'D
That was fun, especially if I found some kind strangers that helped me get there.

I really enjoy ESO's scaling system.
It makes it so no matter the level any content will always be (more or less) relevant.
And since no one out level zones every zone still holds worth in them.
Heck, took me like 1 year before I even started the MSQ, as I was simply exploring and having a blast just doing what ever I felt for when ever.

People keep bishing about, "But we will just ended up with one meta, the best meta, the mathematically correct meta. And that breeds toxicity!"

Look, I know you know and we all know that we can't just keep doing this for the next expacs again and again. There's two options
    - Either try something new that has the potential to make it fun, and or breed toxicity
    - Or doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results

If you pick the second option, you are the definition of insanity themselves.

By the same token, if it aint broke, dont fix it.

FF14 is a blockbuster franchise that makes a ton of money. Coca Cola Corp is a blockbuster corp that makes a ton of money. They changed the formula for Coca Cola and took a bath. Coke is back to the old formula.

If you want to try something different, create a new franchise. Don't alienate the fans that have brought you success, dont change the formula.

Look at what Disney did to the Star Wars franchise. They pissed off the fans by changing the canon. Those shows on Disney Plus are taking a bath right now.
