Random Hostility

So I did a Frontline roulette, and early on a SCH in my party was all "I have no idea what I am doing lol" and telling the truth, I respond in jest with "neither does half the people who play frontline" (because it's true). We were loosing for awhile, but I don't go into frontlines expecting a win. I learned that long ago.

After we won, I am sitting on a nice stack of battle high (highest I think I've gotten), and in the upper 45% of damage done. I qued MCH, I know phys ranged aren't DPS monsters in PVP, so I am content with that. Then a samurai - with basic level 1 battle high - I guess assumed I had malice in my statement or something?

I mean, huh? He left immediately after stating that before I could respond with "????" because I am just baffled. Is there some decorum I broke, or is this dude just an idiot? I edited his name for his sake, and not get in trouble for "calling someone out" or whatever.

Aside from my initial statement, in some banter while waiting for it to start, I even defended him, I just discovered scrolling through the chat. rofl

Other than that, I didn't chat and just played the game. Pretty good round, not even mad, just confused.

Anyway yeah. Tldr; is this just miscommunication errors, a general idiot, or did I break some unknown decorum?

Not claiming I know too much about FL. For instance, idk what bh5 is. (Assuming battle high 5.) I often wind up not realizing my team pulled back, and suddenly it's me vs 10+ people, or I get yanked in when I gotta go near melee for Bioblaster, so I typically don't get chances to gain BH stacks. Usually die 2 or 3 times, and on bad days can be up to 6 lol. Eh, DNC is my usual class whenever I PVP (I like the escape and AOE options). But let's be real, a lot of people in frontlines are my level of understanding in PVP or less; and probably at least just as much are more knowledgeable on it. Any random FL match you've been frustrated within is proof of that.

"neither does half the people who play frontline" is vague. It can be interpreted as you reassuring the SCH but it can also be interpreted as you complaining about and putting down your teammates. The SAM interpreted it as the second way and decided to call you out. To them it looked like you were complaining that people didn't know how to play Frontlines when you yourself didn't know how to play.

Basically, I wouldn't worry about it. You did nothing wrong. The SAM did nothing wrong (in my opinion). It was just miscommunication. It happens.

Many people in Frontline are irritable. It's a consequence of matching meta-premade specialists with relatively-inexperienced solo players, many of whom don't really want to be there.

I'd say forget about that guy sounds like a real jerk.

PvP really shouldn't even be treated as a serious game mode to begin with to be honest. So just have fun and press buttons do the best you can.

Some people see self deprecating humor and internalize it onto themselves or misinterpret it completely. I have heard party members say something as innocent as 'I give up' because they were having a bad game only for another party member to tell them to 'leave then' as if they were quitting, when it was clearly used as a term of endearment.

FL is a mess if you don't outnumber your opponents or 5 DRG plunge on your team while a DRK pulls you in. >.>
Don't take people too serious, people can get on an ego trip if they happen to be somewhat more competent at a certain thing.
