Is icy-veins BIS still viable?

I´m not really sure what stats i should go for, other Dragoons in fflogs do quiet nice dps numbers but with completely difference stats(super high crit but very low determination and all other stats) - even though many ranged classes and the new classes are always a litter higher in dps everwhere x).

But i remember seeing a crit sheet back then with a crit cap where it wouldn´t make sense going over that anymore.

So maybe ~2000 crit is that cap and after that you go for determination?

The kind of gain you'll get from min/maxing stats like this is in the ballpark of 1%. Unless you're getting 10 98% parses while gunning for a 99, I wouldn't care.
Either way, crit usually gets better the more of it you have, since it's a parabolic scaling. Assuming DRG still has its guaranteed crit attacks.

Hm... if this is true then i can imagine why you just need around 1800-2000 Crit. You have ~50% Crit DMG increase at this spot, 15-17% rate and with ~2600 crit only marginal more rate/dmg. For 1800-2000 crit you barely have to socket materia for and you can socket full determination there(and some direct hit materia where the limit strikes), which makes sense. Plus even more det and dh from food.

Speed obviously is a killer for DRG, basically you want to avoid any speed stat on gearparts. Atleast that´s what people told me back then and what sites like icy veins say.

Was curious what people write here. As a casual I just pretty much socket Crit on everything that I can, for all roles lol. Then I'll fall back to Determination or DH. Maybe some Spell Speed if I'm in a BLM phase.

For only having tomestone and ex gear available right now that probably is bis. But bis will change when normal mode raid crafted, and the limited tomestone gear as well as savage raid come out

Even less crit to socket haha.

Anyway, according to my own longer tests, crit build(going past 2000 up to ~2600) makes only crits a little stronger(like 3-4k at Dragoons Drakesbane for example) and determination > direct hit build with 2000 crit makes you have higher min and max normal damage, procs direct hit more often and make direct hits stronger, expecially with crit and direct hit combined - while having more or less the same crit rate. So that´s why icey veins BIS makes actually sense, getting more dps out of the dt > dh build - and there are softcaps you should watch for(like the akhmorning link i posted).

The "softcap" always can change depending on how much crit we would get from BIS gear i think.
