Got the impression that she might have been incapacitated. Seeing how she wanted to travel but couldn't. And her looks in living memory was of when she was travelling with Gulool Ja Ja

Something I find questionable that the story never seem to address is how do Regulators handle body damage, like could a Regulator fix what Raubahn did to Teledji Adeledji?
Like imagine if a beast tore off someone's arm and promptly ate said arm, the person escapes while the beast is busy chewing, but they are bleeding profusely from the mangled stump, and while hiding, they bleed to death, the Regulator kicks in and revives them, is the stump going to be fixed in any way, or will they continue to bleed from the stump, and almost immediately die again? we could assume it can handle wounds so long as all relevant parts are there, even replenish things like blood, but could a Regulator repair Raubahn? could it do anything about Arenvald?
Maybe it's the middle ground between those two options and a regulator wouldn't be able to repair/recreate the arm but (pseudo-)cauterise the stump. So the person survives but has still lost their arm.
Personally, I always found old age to be the least likely cause of her death, since Erenville does not noticeably react upon learning that the inside of the dome has skipped 30 years ahead of us. If she had been old enough to be that close to death, that info alone should have set off alarm bells. But considering how forgetful the writing of Dawntrail is with many, many details, to the point of some characters outright forgetting and changing their motivations midway through MSQ, maybe the writers just forgot that he should have been concerned, and it might have been old age after all.
As for a bodily damage and regulators, in the final boss of The Vanguard and such they seem to at least heal internal damage just fine. Whether there is a limit to it is unclear, but considering overcharging on souls can cause outright physical transformations, I'd guess regrowing a limb might not be much of a problem. The big question mark is decapitation, since that could counts a removing the regulator from the body.
We saw in EW with sufficient soul energy, you can literally raise the dead and travel in time. Soul energy is potent stuff so healing massive trauma would be easy as long as the regulator is intact.
wow there sure are some neat and interesting ideas here. It'd really be a shame if the writing team didn't make such an interesting topic a focus of the MSQ. I'm glad they were smart and didn't do that though. It would really suck if they focused on another character instead of Erenville and his Mom.
