    DT DRG Stats Priority

I didn´t play much endgame after EW MSQ but now i´m playing for real with DT...

I compare DPS currently via fflogs and comparing dungeon boss dps from other Dragoons, to keep up with the standard/max potential. While Dragoon is kinda rare in the rankings/logs i saw some Dragoons who have lower gear than me and the only better stat is crit(like 300 more crit) on them, still they do more average dmg on many skills(Even after recreating their rotation).

So is it actually better to have less strength and more crit via green gear?

And what is the stat priority(materia included)? Crit > Determination?

All i know is that Dragoon doesn´t need Speed(i never saw one using extra speed materia/stats too). And i also remember reading back then that direct hit is a bad thing to go for.

Stat priority for drg usually goes as....

    Crit>DH>=Det

Crit is your singular most important offensive substat as it pairs with life surge and higher fflogs depend on crit to crit fish and get high parses.

Determination gives you a higher base line dps increase while Direct Hit is mini crit that gives you a chance to deal 25% more dmg that can be critical hit as well.

Skill speed (if youre reaching a certain gcd timer though most play with no extra skill speed.

As for gear 9/10 the main stat of dragoons aka strength is worth more value wise then substats. So usually folks would equip gear with ilvl/mainstat in mind then focus on substats. The outlier of choosing a lower mainstat gear over substats if youre

    1. Achieving a certain skillspeed
    2. Getting a certain substat like crit to a certain stat breakpoint for potentially more dps which are rare.

If youre curious on certain skillspeed is because some dragoons tune for certain fights to get as many gcds before downtime on a fight. Or theyre comfier on the rotation. 2.4 gcd is the standard as we'd double weave ogcds in our burst phase the less skillspeed is more time to input our doubleweaves before the gcd becomes active.

The standard GCD speed for DRG is 2.5. Going any faster will drift certain cooldowns such as High Jump, and will require you to know when to use these on hard CD and when to drift them to the next GCD. You can eyeball this by delaying it if you see it's going to cause you to clip or using immediately if not. A 2.5 GCD speed removes these issues as long as you don't disconnect or stop rolling your GCD at some point.

As for FFlogs and its statistics, there's a lot of factors that play into how damage shows up on that website. It's not just gear or materia but a combination of:

    - Party composition. Some jobs abuse buffs better than others (this is relevant for your rDPS). Battle Litany scales the more gear we have, and right now our Critical Hit values are lower, so it's effectiveness is not at its maximum.

    - Kill/Speed time. Killing a boss just after a 120s burst will snapshot your damage at its highest peak.

    - For dungeons specifically, the fastest speeds will always go with three DPS and one tank.

    - Critical and Direct Hit luck. You can be lucky or unlucky and have above average or below average values on these, even when playing perfectly.

    - Gear and materia.

    - The way you play. In dungeons you'd want to maximize the amount of oGCDs that hit the maximum amount of targets.

This list of not exhaustive, there can be more factors involved.

Materia priorities are correct on the post above but those are a guideline when you're upgrading gear. A BiS set will not always meld Critical Hit materia everywhere as stat tiers will sometimes make it so that what's optimal is melding something else.

You can find the current BiS (not counting Arcadion normal mode pieces, as the list will change soon with Savage) as well as more information on DRG in The Balance Discord and their website.

My bad 2.5 has no skill speed slotted in any gear while 2.4~ has some skill speed slotted in. 2.5 is what you want for easier/comfier double weaving as above posted.

    Same as all DPS.
Crit as much as you can, direct hit and determination are always equally as mid and you have sks/sps to the amount that you avoid drifting buffs.
This will never change until they finally make det and dh interesting.
