The Sea of Clouds has No Sea of Clouds: DT removed them??

My favourite place in FFXIV are the Parrock and the Sea of Clouds: the standout feature I've always loved is how the sea of clouds is ACTUALLY a sea of clouds that stretches as far as the eye can see to the horizon. Imagine my surprise when what I actually find is:

The cylinder of clouds! with a HUGE layer of "fog" between that means I don't see the clouds, or the sky.

Jokes aside, I think this is must be a side effect of the visual update to fog or such but I'm heartbroken that the sea of clouds has been slashed to this degree and I can't imagine that this was an intended effect.

I've linked the helpful graphic in hd illustrating the changes (courtesy of my friend) and embedded it in the preview to the best of my ability. I would really appreciate it if you to go check for yourself; assuming it's happening to more than just me, it's extremely noticeable when flying around in certain times of day at worst and eternally foggy at a certain altitude at best.

I hope this can be fixed if it really isn't just me, I want my Parrock/Sea of Clouds back.

the new fog effect/atmosphere is really gorgeous when it works correctly, but does some strange things to really iconic locations like the sea of clouds when its not properly tuned I know amaurot also has some strange textures going on right now that it did not have before this update.

Huh. I hadn't looked because I just haven't had any reason to go to the Sea of Clouds, but now that I'm looking at it, yeah, that looks bugged.

Does it affect the Churning Mists too? It has a similar skybox, but right now the weather conditions on my server are making it hard to tell.

Very interesting question, I'm checking, with umbral static it's hard to say, but I'm inclined to say it's possible. I'm afraid I was never as hyperfixiated on the churning mists so I don't have comparative photos but it seems to also have the foggy midsection that I don't know was there before, but I can't see a prominent cylinder which might be a bit of hope for it.

Initially I thought "pfft, you must have just gone there while it was foggy". But no, it really is just a sea of fog during clear skies. Pretty disappointing

I wonder if you can still see the Void Ark in there?

Oh, wow.. Yeah now that I look at it, the sea of clouds is constantly just foggy now. You can't see Void ark at all anymore because of how obscured it is. I really do hop they do a hot fix for this, it was honestly the for this. The 'sea' of clouds was such a beautiful part of those HW areas. :'(

That's gotta be a bug, almost looks like a file got deleted and is showing up white instead lol
