This fork had good reasons to appear. It follows a different mission from the original thread and reduces digression therein by concentrating that tangent/forked purpose here instead, and its placing in its OP ideas useful to that new purpose means that the discourse for which the conversation forked is more streamlined. So, admittedly, it would probably exist regardless of the behavior of others, even if posters' inability to read 1 to 3 pages prior to find the considerable amount of work that they demanded (simultaneously to be perfectly comprehensive yet be written dumbed down sufficiently for them) already done for them did accelerate this thread's usefulness.
But, in most other cases, most thread forks would have a lot less reason to form if...
- people actually read the OPs and, if responding to posts important enough to warrant links/quotes in said OP, actually read those posts before entering merely the wake of the ongoing conversation,
- people recognized the irony in posting just to complain that people are posting and actually then refrained from doing so if they honestly believe that posting in any such thread is bad/unwarranted/contemptible/bringing about the moral destruction of the internet,
- people didn't warrant their posted complaints about people posting in such absurd ways that it encourages/obliges, for collective sanity, rebuttal of those complaints (as here).
While, yes, this fork has
already formed, the same cautions would go a long way here, too, as not to so greatly incentivize a further, clean-slate fork (for which just not having you in it would be benefit enough to warrant its creation).
And all that is to say nothing for the obvious irony of harassing people for making a new thread on one end...
and for "necro-ing" a still-relevant existing one on the other. If there were some ban against making new threads at all related to a prior thread yet also against necro-ing, that would be effectively a gag order on a given thread's topic, regardless of thread, from the moment the thread in which it's first mentions leaves the front page. Luckily, there isn't. There isn't even a rule against necro-ing.
There is literally only this:
- Posting content that does not follow the theme of the category or thread.
- Posting content that deviates from topics concerning FINAL FANTASY XIV.
- Posting spam, including meaningless characters and white space.
- Posting a number of posts with the same content.
- Taking or discussing criminal actions.
- Posting that constitutes discrimination against another forum member or group (also including forming groups for the purpose of discrimination), insults, slander, libel, harassment of a group or individual.
- Use of inappropriate or aggressive language.
- Posting obscenity, pornography, propaganda, or other expressions unrelated to the game.
- Posting about commercial, business, advertising, political, or religious matters.
- Posting that would violate anti-stalking laws or orders.
- Posting personal information about yourself or other specific individuals.
- Posting aimed to create a negative impact on the community or its members.
- Impersonating another person or taking action that might reasonably be mistaken as the actions of another.
- Reproducing, duplicating, altering, supplementing, changing, or other secondary use of this Service’s software, either whole or in part.
- Posting seeking to damage or disparage Square Enix, the forum, FINAL FANTASY XIV, or others.
- Posting content that seeks to interfere with the running of FINAL FANTASY XIV.
- Posting content with the intention of criticizing either Square Enix staff or specific individuals.
- Doing anything that obstructs the use of the forum or FINAL FANTASY XIV for other users.
- Infringing upon Square Enix's or any third party’s intellectual property (copyright, trademark, etc.) rights or privacy rights.
- Undertaking any RMT-related actions, including selling items, gil, or accounts for real world currency.
- Attempting to harm or obstruct the operation or use of this forum.
- Doing anything that is prohibited in the Square Enix Account Terms of Use.
- Taking any other actions that are deemed inappropriate by Square Enix in our sole discretion.
I suspect the bolded would be more relevant to your own actions than to Roe having increased the total number of healer threads by 1 out of 918 in order to focus on, frankly, a meaningfully different subtopic from what existing threads offered.
Seriously... the irony of putting this many posts into getting people to stop posting about what they want to have a conversation about, for whatever reason, surely cannot wholly be lost on you.
There is no world in which
1 in 918+ threads is somehow a more an obstruction of forum use than a single-class boosted (hopefully just alt) account using the majority of its posts just to belittle others or squelch conversation and thereby adding 100+ digressed posts.
